This position primarily works day shift but may occasionally require weekend and holiday work, as well as emergency callouts.\nThe Grounds Maintenance Technician works both independently and as part of a high-performance team and is encouraged to seek support from Maintenance Mechanics when needed. This is an entry-level position that offers opportunities for growth and development into mechanical roles for those interested in advancing their skills.\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nCoordinate with the immediate supervisor to complete prioritized projects and work orders safely and efficiently.\nAssist with the construction, maintenance, and care of terminal grounds, including grass, shrubbery, flower beds, and trees.\nPerform routine and directed groundskeeping and landscaping maintenance.\nClean stormwater systems and remove accumulated debris.\nInspect, maintain, and repair terminal properties and site amenities, including signs, cables, chains, barricades, gates, posts, fences, and rock walls.\nPerform repairs to roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots, as applicable.\nRegularly inspect grounds, drains, manhole covers, and other areas for trash and debris. Rake, sweep, collect, and bag leaves, dirt, and other debris from roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots, and transport waste to designated collection points.\nProperly and safely apply chemicals used in groundskeeping, horticulture, and turf management. Follow written and verbal instructions for mixing and applying chemicals according to specifications, and properly dispose of, store, and label chemical products as directed.\nSafely operate vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, tractors, backhoes, telehandlers, forklifts, aerial lifts, and mowers.\nOperate groundskeeping tools and equipment, including chainsaws, line trimmers, leaf blowers, sprayers, power tools, and other related equipment.\nPerform routine and preventive maintenance and cleaning of groundskeeping and building maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery within the scope of the position.\nConduct safety inspections of terminal grounds and related site amenities.\nWork on elevated platforms accessed by ladders or stairs, as required.\nPerform work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.\nSupervise temporary workers and contractors as needed.\nFollow established safety guidelines, quality standards, operational objectives, and procedures.\nMaintain and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include:\nDust masks and respirators\nFlame-resistant clothing (FRC)\nTyvek suits\nChemical-resistant suits\nChemical-resistant boots\nChemical-resistant gloves\nLeather gloves\nGoggles and safety glasses\nHard hats\nFace shields\nFall protection equipment\nPersonal flotation devices (PFDs)\nHearing protection\nAssist Maintenance Mechanics as needed.\nPerform other duties, projects, or assignments as requested by management.\nEDUCAITON & EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nExperience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, industrial maintenance, or facilities maintenance preferred.\nExperience operating groundskeeping or light industrial equipment preferred.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES\nKnowledge of basic grounds maintenance, landscaping practices, and property upkeep.\nAbility to safely operate and maintain hand tools, power equipment, and light and heavy equipment.\nBasic understanding of equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and safe work practices.\nAbility to follow work instructions, prioritize tasks, and complete work orders efficiently.\nStrong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.\nAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, and reach for extended periods while performing groundskeeping and maintenance duties.\nAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, equipment, and debris as required by the job.\nAbility to perform repetitive physical tasks, including raking, sweeping, digging, trimming, mowing, and handling landscaping materials.\nAbility to climb ladders and stairs and work on elevated platforms when required.\nAbility to operate vehicles, machinery, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment safely.\nAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in environments that may involve exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, uneven terrain, and other industrial or environmental hazards.\nAbility to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nAbility to perform the essential functions of the position safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nThe physical demands described above are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.
