Open until filled.\nEssential Job Duties:\nDevelop software for managing a distributed network of computing nodes.\nDevelop new features for AI-enabled data analysis and autonomous control at the edge.\nDevelop and maintain software infrastructure through patches, bundles, releases, and maintenance packs.\nCode software applications that adhere to established designs and support internal requirements and external users; create and maintain code documentation. \nIdentify database and software performance issues and adjust; support debugging and troubleshooting.\nInsure the correct operation of the distributed infrastructure.\nPrioritize tasks within a project and meet with business analysts and stakeholders to determine requirements.\nOpen and manage support tickets with vendors; grant access to new users and respond to user inquiries; collaborate with users to design features for developing new goals, strategies, workflow and best practices. \nConditions of Employment:\nPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires).\nValid driver's license by employment start date.\nAuthorized to work in the United States by employment start date.\nAbility to travel between Northwestern University and Argonne National Laboratory is required.\nDecision Making:\nEvaluate feature, upgrade, and change requests and recommend the appropriate course of action.\nPrioritize tasks within assigned projects to meet requirements and deadlines.\nIdentify software performance issues and determine the adjustments needed to resolve them.\nPartner with users to design features and recommend workflow and best practice improvements.\nDetermine when to escalate issues to senior staff or open tickets with external vendors.\nSupervision: N/A\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.\nOne year of experience developing and maintaining code or services in production.\nFluency in:\nProgramming language such as Python, C, and shell scripts.\n\nGeneral developer tooling such as Git and Docker.\n\nLinux.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nKubernetes.\nMonitoring tooling such as Prometheus.\nCI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions.\nSalary Range\n$62,400 to $83,200Required Application Documents\nTo apply, please upload the following applicant documents.
