You will work closely with other lab team members in efforts to innovate on protocols of avian stem cell culture, genome editing, and reintroduction into embryos using cutting edge technologies.\nThis position is based in Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance is available.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nCulture avian embryonic stem cells, test novel cell culture conditions, transfect cells, sort monoclonal cell lines, screen and expand cells according to latest protocols and newly developed approaches\nUsing a dissection microscope, collect avian blastodiscs from avian embryos and derive stem cell cultures\nCharacterize and QC avian stem cell cultures\nInject stem cells into avian blastodiscs\nWork with team members to assess efficiency of editing through NGS sequencing approaches\nAttends lab meetings, prepares reports, and presentations on the progress of projects\nGreat organizational skills and excellent laboratory record maintenance\nRequired Skills and Abilities:\nExperience with embryonic stem cell cultures\nExperience manipulating embryos under a microscope\nExperience in cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection methodologies\nExperience in molecular biology (eg, nucleic acid and protein extraction, gel electrophoresis)\nExperience with flow cytometry, immunostaining, cell microscopy\nStrong written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills\nEducation and Experience:\nBA/BS/MA/MS in biological sciences, cell biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or any science related field.\nWhat Colossal Offers Full-Time Employees:\nMedical, dental, and vision coverage\nExcellent paid time off and company holidays so you can rest and recharge \nFlexible spending accounts (FSA)\nCompany matched 401k retirement plan\nPaid parental leave at 100% salary for up to 12 weeks\nEducation reimbursement \nAn opportunity to help us return the Earth to a healthier state\nThe team at Colossal is committed, colorful, passionate, intelligent, collaborative, creative, experienced, scientific and world-class.
