The role involves hands-on coding and configuration of automation processes and API middleware components from low-level design (LLD) to technical design documents (TDD), making sure that they meet defined requirements, validate automations/integrations by carrying out unit testing and assist in quality control, validation processes and testing efforts, providing guidance to end users to ensure adequate and thorough testing. This role will also entail familiarity with AI Agentic frameworks.\nWhat You'll Deliver/Areas of Impact:\nProduct/Process Development\nWorks closely with Automation Anywhere and MuleSoft implementation teams and on new product and process development projects.\nWork directly with project subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other team mates to deliver Automation Anywhere automations and MuleSoft API based solutions in Columbia Bank’s Enterprise systems.\nTo accomplish this, the Process & Automation Engineer will be responsible for automation and API design.\nBuild robust decision trees and state machines.\nInclude appropriate exception handling & logging rules.\nProficiency with developing and implementing workflows that include documentation, error checking, logging, security, and recoverability.\nCoding Responsibilities\nResponsible for core coding principles (For Loops, If Statements, etc.).\nProgram languages such as C#, Python, ASP.Net, PL/SQL, JavaScript, VBScript, SOAP / REST Services, VBA or Java.\nFront end tools like: React or Vue, jQuery.\nAutomation tools: Automation Anywhere, UI Path, Power Automate, Power Platform, Blue Prism.\nAPI Middleware platform tools: MuleSoft or equivalent.\nProcess Flow Improvement\nCreate As-Is / To-Be Process Flows.\nIdentify changes to workflow / impact to workforce.\nDocument 'Solution Design Document', including process flows, and business & technical requirements.\nProcess Assessment and Improvement\nWork with business leaders to assess processes and identify opportunities for automation that increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.\nWork closely with senior team members to build a test plan and get the test plans approved by project stakeholders.\nData Intelligence\nManipulate different types of data and work with variables including Strings, Integers and Data Tables.\nPerform core operations (split strings, convert, SQL Queries, etc.).\nData Integration\nHandle data integration concepts, APIs (including micro services), modern application development methodologies and technologies.\nRobotic Intelligence Development\nHyper automation, intelligent document processing and AI Agentic flows.\nWhat You'll Need to Succeed: \nRequired Qualifications: \nBachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering\n5+ years of experience with software development.\n5+ years of experience in RPA technologies - Automation Anywhere (a plus); UI Path, Blue Prism or Power Automate.\nHands-on experience with the implementation of Robotic and Intelligent Process Automation tools, such as Automation Anywhere; Intelligent Document Automation.\n2+ years of experience building and calling APIs and web services; Experience in the MuleSoft API Gateway platform a plus.\nPreferred Qualifications: \nWorking knowledge of any programming language like Java, C#, JavaScript, python.\nAutomation Anywhere Certified Advanced RPA Professional.\nExperience in building AI agents a nice to have.\nCore Competencies/Skills:\nDeep understanding of RPA process design and technical implementation.\nExperience in API design, process and implementations.\nAbility to use critical thinking in solving a problem.\nAbility to break down business problems into logical tasks and think creatively.\nAbility to perform code analysis to understand how code is implemented.\nCross-functional business and application knowledge.\nUnderstand data structures; Understand and follow coding best practices, e.g., naming conventions, error handling, logging, and commenting.\nDatabase development including schemas and stored procedures/functions.\nExcellent written and verbal skills.\nHow We Take Care of You:\nBuild a stronger future for yourself, your family and the communities we serve.
