The role supports in ensuring the effective operation, stability, and security of the corporate server environment. The role encompasses the management of physical hardware and virtual platforms, user accounts and domain administration, email systems, server and hypervisor operating systems, database administration, storage (SAN), backup and recovery, and other critical data center functions.\nRequirements\nKey Performance Indicators:\nTechnical job role requirements include:\nMicrosoft Active Directory, Domain Administration - MS Active Directory & Domain Administration , users , groups and permissions management.\nServer Virtualization - Configuration, operation and administration of the Virtual Server platform, including related Storage (SAN) and Networking.\nBackup & Recovery, DR - Competent use of technology & practices to ensure business continuity of IT systems , and compliance in terms of audits & risk assessments.\nProblem Solving, Troubleshooting & Performance Management - able to effectively use IT Infrastructure tools for monitoring , alerting , trouble-shooting and problem-solving to maintain optimal and efficient server & storage performance & availability.\nInterfacing (Internal and External) - Good verbal and written communication skills required to contribute on a technical level with internal and external parties.\nBest-Practice & Standards - Recommend standards & practices in terms of server , storage , database and domain administrative functions for continuous improvement.\nCyber Security - All aspects of the role to be carried out compliant to security standards\nInstallations & Configuration, Hardware - install and administer IT infrastructure server and storage hardware. (Rack , stack , cable management etc.)\nAdministrative job role requirements\nJob card / Ticket Resolution - Able to communicate effectively to manage, prioritise and resolve job cards / tickets for assigned tasks and service requests.\nDocumentation - Create and maintain documentation related to the server & storage environment. This includes knowledge repository / wiki , training material , standards and procedures.\nSupport job role requirements\nMust provide support to other IT teams (Software & Systems , Network , End-User etc) as well as end-users via job card / ticket resolution , in a competent, respectful and professional manner.\nAfter-hours stand-by on a rotational basis within the team is a requirement,\nExperience:\nAt least 3-6 years relevant experience in server engineer/administration role within IT infrastructure support and administration with hands-on experience on:\nserver virtualization\nserver & storage administration\ndomain & user administration\nhardware installation & configuration\nmonitoring , alerting & performance management\nbackup & recovery\ndatabase operations / administration\nPlacement at a particular grade is contingent upon management’s decision as well as additional relevant skills -based and site-specific factors deemed appropriate.Qualification\nMatric-Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)\nRequired Certifications:\nCertification in a current Server Virtualization technology (VMware Certified Professional VPC, Microsoft Azure Administrator , Oracle VM , HPE VM Essentials etc.)\nCertification or equivalent Formal Training Qualification that will validate competence in Microsoft Active Directory and Domain Administration (Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate , Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate , MCSE / MCP , or equivalent)\nCertification or equivalent Formal Training Qualification that will validate competence in Networking (CompTIA Network+ , Cisco CCNA or equivalent)\nAdvantageous & Differentiating Applicant Criteria:\nCertifications or equivalent Formal Training Qualifications that will indicate competence in IT Infrastructure technologies relevant to a Server Administrators role :\nMicrosoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (and other related MS)\nCertification or equivalent Formal Training Qualification that will indicate competence in Backup & Recovery systems (CommVault Certified Professional CCP , Veeam Certified Engineer VMCE , or equivalent)\nCompTIA Server+ , CompTIA Linux+ ,\nCompTIA Network+ , CompTIA Security+ , CompTIA A+\nVMware Certified Professional VPC\nIBM i (AS400) Operator / Administrator\nMS Remote Desktop Services (RDS) platform with Thin Client Terminals\nIT Degree or Diploma\nExperience working in a Production / Manufacturing environment\nEssential Competencies, Skills & Personal Attributes:\nAble to demonstrate full computer literacy & basic MS Office (Word , Excel) abilities\nEffective troubleshooting and problem solving.
