We are hiring an **Engineer 2 - Software Engineer** with solid software development fundamentals and a growing ability to deliver production-quality features independently. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role. You will be expected to implement well-scoped features and bug fixes, write tests, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with senior engineers on design and architecture. You will grow into broader ownership over time as you build confidence across the stack. You will contribute to engineering problems that improve reliability, developer productivity, and platform quality using Go, Java, or Python. --- ### What We're Looking For (Must-Have) #### Software Development Fundamentals - Solid, working proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, or Python - 3-5 years of professional experience writing and shipping production code - Ability to implement clearly defined features and bug fixes independently with minimal guidance #### Engineering Quality Strong foundation in: - Data structures, algorithms, and basic problem-solving - Writing clean, readable, and testable code - Unit and integration testing Developing habits around: - Code reviews (giving and receiving feedback constructively) - Documentation and maintainability - Following team conventions and style guides #### Collaboration & Growth - Works effectively within a team and asks for guidance when uncertain - Able to break down a well-defined task into subtasks and execute them - Growing comfort participating in technical discussions and design conversations - Receptive to feedback and proactively incorporates it #### Ownership Within Scope - Takes ownership of assigned features through implementation, testing, and delivery - Escalates blockers clearly and in a timely manner - Able to debug and resolve issues in code you wrote or are familiar with --- ### What You'll Do - Implement features and bug fixes in backend services and application components in Go, Java, or Python - Write unit and integration tests to validate your work - Participate in code reviews, both as a reviewer and author - Collaborate with senior engineers during design and planning discussions - Debug and resolve issues in development and staging environments - Contribute to improving documentation, test coverage, and code hygiene --- ### Nice to Have (Optional) - Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) or containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) - Familiarity with REST APIs, gRPC, or similar backend communication patterns - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and basic DevOps workflows - Some exposure to observability tooling (logs, metrics, traces) - Prior internship or co-op experience on a backend or platform team --- ### What Success Looks Like at SDE-2 Level - You independently implement and ship well-scoped features with minimal hand-holding - Your code is clean, tested, and passes review without repeated major feedback cycles - You actively participate in technical discussions and ask good questions - You take ownership of your work through delivery and follow-through - You are growing toward broader system-level thinking and cross-team awareness
