The Principal Engineer will serve as a bridge between MVNO engineering, product, software development, and operations teams, translating network capabilities, partner interfaces, service behaviors, and product requirements into end-to-end technical solutions and software requirements.The role will initially focus on international roaming and roaming product service assurance, while supporting broader Xfinity Mobile initiatives across our multi-MNO environment.\nJob Description\nThis Engineer 5 role is based with the team in our cutting-edge Comcast Technology Center in downtown Philadelphia. It is not eligible for remote or virtual hiring.\nResponsibilities:\nLead end-to-end solution architecture for Xfinity Mobile capabilities spanning multiple MNOs, Comcast applications, and business/product partner integrations.\nTranslate network capabilities, partner interfaces, service behaviors, and product needs into system architecture and clear, testable software requirements.\nServe as a technical bridge between MVNO/network engineering and software development teams, helping translate telecom capabilities into scalable software solutions.\nEvaluate differences in MNO capabilities and interfaces and develop solution patterns that support common Xfinity Mobile capabilities while accommodating MNO-specific requirements where needed.\nDevelop architecture diagrams, end-to-end call flows, interface specifications, APIs, event flows, and functional and non-functional requirements.\nProvide technical leadership for international roaming and roaming product service assurance, including monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and operational capabilities.\nDefine requirements for highly available and resilient applications, including scalability, security, configuration management, failure handling, recovery, logging, monitoring, and alerting.\nPartner with software engineering teams throughout architecture, design, development, and production readiness.\nAnalyze complex issues spanning MNO capabilities, partner platforms, Xfinity Mobile applications, and supporting infrastructure and drive cross-functional technical resolution.\nEvaluate solution alternatives and technical trade-offs considering customer experience, reliability, operational complexity, extensibility, cost, and time to market.\nLead architecture and design reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship across engineering teams.\nInfluence technical direction across product, engineering, operations, MNO, and partner organizations.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExtensive experience in telecommunications, wireless systems, software architecture, systems engineering, or related engineering disciplines.\nStrong understanding of mobile network and MVNO architectures.\nExperience designing solutions in multi-MNO, MVNO, or carrier-integrated environments.\nDemonstrated ability to translate network, product, and partner capabilities into system and software requirements.\nExperience designing complex distributed systems and integrations using REST APIs, event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and related integration patterns.\nExperience designing highly available, resilient, scalable, and operationally supportable applications.\nExperience with production observability, service assurance, monitoring, logging, metrics, alerting, and end-to-end troubleshooting.\nStrong systems-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze interactions across networks, applications, partner platforms, and infrastructure.\nDemonstrated ability to lead technical architecture discussions and influence decisions across multiple teams and organizations.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nExperience working with an MVNO or mobile network operator.\nExperience with international roaming products, systems, or service assurance.\nKnowledge of 4G/LTE and 5G architectures and mobile services.\nKnowledge of SIM/eSIM provisioning, subscriber provisioning, entitlement, policy, charging, or OSS/BSS systems.\nExperience with cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and technologies such as Kafka.\nExperience with multi-region or multi-site application architectures.\nSoftware development experience sufficient to collaborate effectively with application development teams and participate in detailed software architecture and design discussions.\nEmployees at all levels are expected to:\nUnderstand our Operating Principles; make them the guidelines for how you do your job.\nOwn the customer experience think and act in ways that put our customers first, give them seamless digital options at every touchpoint, and make them promoters of our products and services.\nKnow your stuff be enthusiastic learners, users and advocates of our game-changing technology, products and services, especially our digital tools and experiences.\nWin as a team make big things happen by working together and being open to new ideas.\nBe an active part of the Net Promoter System a way of working that brings more employee and customer feedback into the company by joining huddles, making call backs and helping us elevate opportunities to do better for our customers.\nDrive results and growth.\nSupport a culture of inclusion in how you work and lead.\nDo what's right for each other, our customers, investors and our communities.\nDisclaimer: This information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role.
