As Controller, you’ll own the financial operations infrastructure that enables this scale-from accounting and reporting to financial systems and compliance. You’ll report directly to the CFO and partner with finance, supply chain, technology, and operations leadership to ensure our financial systems are accurate, efficient, and provide insights that drive business decisions.\nResponsibilities:\n\nAccounting Oversight\nLead all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management\nEnsure full compliance with US GAAP (including revenue recognition, inventory costing, and accruals)\nServe as primary reviewer of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial outputs\nMaintain and continuously improve accounting policies and documentation\nInternal Controls & Audit Buildout\nDesign and implement a formal internal controls framework (SOX-ready mindset)\nEstablish and document key controls across accounting processes\nLead internal audit readiness, including testing, documentation, and remediation\nIdentify control gaps and partner with stakeholders to strengthen processes\nEnsure the organization is audit-ready at all times\nAudit & Financial Reporting\nLead audit preparation, including PBC schedules and auditor coordination\nEnsure all financial data is well-supported, documented, and defensible\nSupport preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages\nMonth-End Close Leadership\nOwn and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process\nEstablish and enforce close timelines, deliverables, and accountability across the team\nEnsure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements\nReview all balance sheet reconciliations and enforce strong support standards\nIdentify and resolve variances and issues during close\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)\n6-8+ years of progressive accounting experience\n3-4 years of experience in audit or public accounting\nProven experience leading month-end close and owning accounting processes\nStrong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls\nExperience in inventory and/or DTC, eCommerce, or retail environments preferred\nAdvanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations)\nExperience with ERP systems and high-volume transaction environments\n Why Join Comfrt?\nBe part of a purpose-driven company that’s shaping the future of comfort and mental wellness.\nWork in a supportive, creative environment where your ideas and growth are valued.\nEnjoy Comfrt benefits such as generous paid time off, company-covered health insurance, 5% 401k match, and discounts on all Comfrt products! \nJoin a passionate team making an impact on exciting projects, all while enjoying the flexibility and collaborative support of a fully remote environment.\nComfort is an equal opportunity employer.
