Commonwealth Bank of Australia is the country's largest bank, established by federal legislation in 1911 as a government-owned institution and fully privatised by 1996. It serves roughly one in three Australians across retail deposits, home lending, business banking and institutional markets, and holds the largest share of the domestic mortgage market. The bank has invested unusually heavily in technology for its size, rebuilding its core systems and pushing the CommBank application into a broader financial and lifestyle platform, and it runs the venture arm x15ventures to build and buy adjacent digital businesses.
  • Lead the change and capability agenda across Group Audit and Assurance.
  • Shape a significant transformation spanning leadership, AI, insights and new ways of working.
  • Combine strategic influence with practical change delivery in a lean team environment.

Do Work That Matters

Be part of the team that keeps CommBank strong, resilient and ready for what’s next. Financial Services brings together finance, treasury, audit and assurance to strengthen governance, manage risk and support a resilient balance sheet. From using data, automation and AI to deliver forward-looking insights, to partnering across the Group on strategic decisions, you’ll work on meaningful challenges while building your career.

Group Audit and Assurance is CommBank’s internal audit function, providing independent and objective assurance over the effectiveness of the Group’s risk management, controls and governance processes.

The function is undergoing significant transformation, evolving from a traditional assurance model towards a more strategic role that delivers greater insight and foresight, identifies themes across the enterprise and helps the organisation anticipate emerging risks.

As Executive Manager, Change and Capability, you’ll lead the change required to bring this strategy to life. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll strengthen change capability, build organisational readiness and help embed sustainable new ways of working across the function.

See yourself in our team

You’ll work across Group Audit and Assurance’s strategic priorities spanning leadership, insights and foresight, ways of working, capability and AI.

You will:

  • Lead an integrated change and capability agenda across Group Audit and Assurance.
  • Design and deliver practical change strategies and implementation plans.
  • Conduct change impact and readiness assessments, identifying risks, barriers and required interventions.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement, communication, learning and adoption plans and supporting artefacts.
  • Partner with senior leaders to strengthen change leadership capability and support effective decision-making.
  • Build readiness for AI-enabled assurance, stronger use of data and new ways of working.
  • Drive initiatives from planning through to implementation, adoption and embedding.
  • Define and monitor measures of success, using feedback and insights to improve outcomes.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

Combine strategic thinking with a strong delivery focus and are comfortable moving between executive-level conversations and detailed change activity. You’ll bring structure to ambiguity and turn strategy into clear, practical and sustainable outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience leading organisational change or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Strong capability across change strategy, impact assessment, readiness, stakeholder engagement, communication and adoption.
  • Experience delivering technology, digital, AI, automation or new ways of working initiatives.
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment and constructively challenge established approaches.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, coaching and partnering skills.
  • Sound program and project management capability, from planning through to implementation and embedding.
  • The judgement and adaptability to establish structure and momentum in a lean, evolving environment.
  • A collaborative and curious approach, with a focus on continuous improvement and sustainable outcomes.

Experience in financial services, risk, assurance or audit would be valuable but is not essential. Exposure to AI, data or digital capability uplift would be highly regarded.
