It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.\nAs a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical evolution of our systems contributing to design, development and deployment of our systems to CBA’s Merchants business customers. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and be invited to our regular engineering guilds to broaden your expertise and contribute to the engineering culture at CBA.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nDrive strategic programs of work, including proof-of-concept development, and provide technical strategy, governance and guidance across the solution delivery lifecycle.\n\nLead complex engineering initiatives, ensuring solutions are sustainable, aligned with approved frameworks, industry standards, and business and technology strategies.\n\nChampion engineering excellence through process improvement, strategic practice development, adoption of new tools and technologies, and contribution to internal engineering knowledge.\n\nProvide technical leadership and consultancy across projects, platforms and delivery teams, including ownership of technical assets, roadmaps and strategic direction within areas of expertise.\n\nMentor and upskill engineers across squads, uplift development practices, and lead teams through complex troubleshooting and technical challenges.\n\nSupport the reliable operation of systems, products and platforms, including participation in On-Call rosters and ownership of critical issue resolution when required.\n\nEssential Skills:\nWe use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:\n11-14 years of experience delivering Java solutions in complex enterprise environments, ideally within banking or financial services.\n\nBackend: strong hands-on experience with Java, SpringBoot\n\nDocker and Kubernetes experience.\n\nAPIs: REST, SOAP, OpenAPI Specs\n\nDatabase: PostgreSQL, DyanmoDB (NoSQL)\n\nCloud: AWS Mandatory\n\nDevOps, CI/CD and Full Cycle Engineering: CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Octopus.\n\nLeveraging IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation\n\nObservability: Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana, Observe, AWS CloudWatch.\n\nArchitecture: Sound knowledge of large-scale distributed systems, Microservices, and Rest API Integration.\n\nSolid grasp of best practices in application and system security, backed by demonstrated experience in overseeing multitenant environments and addressing associated security challenges. AI & Machine learning and LLM knowledge is desired.\n\nGenAI tools and Agents - Cline/Roo Code, Cursor, AWS Bedrock.
