You will contribute to scalable, reliable and secure products and services while promoting modern software engineering, automated testing, DevOps and continuous delivery practices.\n\nYou will work closely with engineers, architects and product stakeholders to solve technical challenges and continuously improve software quality, delivery and operational performance. The role will contribute to security-focused products and services that support data protection, tokenisation and the secure handling of sensitive information.\n\nRoles & Responsibilities:\n\nDesign, develop, test and maintain high-quality software solutions, services and reusable components.\nBuild scalable, reliable and maintainable applications using modern software engineering practices.\nApply computer science fundamentals, algorithms and design patterns to solve technical problems.\nContribute to software design and architecture decisions, ensuring solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.\nDevelop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that enable secure, reliable and efficient software delivery.\nImplement comprehensive automated testing across unit, integration, functional and system levels.\nDrive software quality through code reviews, test automation, engineering standards and continuous improvement practices.\nBuild observability, monitoring, logging and alerting capabilities into software solutions to support reliable production operations.\nInvestigate software defects and production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement preventive improvements.\nEmbed security-by-design principles and appropriate security controls throughout the software development lifecycle.\nContribute to the development of security-focused capabilities supporting data protection, tokenisation, encryption and secure handling of sensitive information.\nApply risk management practices when designing, delivering and operating software solutions.\nUse AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve development productivity, testing, documentation and software quality.\nEvaluate relevant technologies and contribute to improvements in engineering practices and product capabilities.\nCollaborate with engineering, architecture, security and product teams to deliver strategic outcomes.\nCommunicate technical designs, decisions, risks and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.\nParticipate in on-call support for production services where required.\n\nEssential Skills:\n\nStrong software engineering experience designing, developing, testing and supporting applications or distributed systems.\nStrong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C# or equivalent.\nExperience building scalable, resilient and maintainable software that operates effectively in production environments.\nSound understanding of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, data structures and software engineering principles.\nExperience contributing to software architecture and translating designs into effective technical solutions.\nAdvanced experience with DevOps, CI/CD and automated software delivery practices.\nAdvanced experience developing automated tests, test frameworks and quality controls across the software development lifecycle.\nExperience applying unit testing, integration testing, functional testing and test-driven development practices.\nExperience implementing monitoring, logging, observability and alerting for production services.\nExperience diagnosing software defects and production issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable fixes.\nStrong understanding of secure software development, security-by-design principles and technology risk management.\nExperience integrating security controls into applications and software delivery pipelines.\nExposure to data protection, tokenisation, cryptography or related security domains is desirable.\nExperience working with cloud-native technologies and modern software platforms.\nSound understanding of AI and data concepts, with exposure to AI-assisted development and engineering automation.\nStrong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical outcomes across teams.\n\nEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology\n\nIf you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application.
