This position provides hands-on leadership to a highly skilled workforce and oversees the activities of three union trades: Millwrights, Welders, and Electricians.\nThe Field Assembly Manager will ensure that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering requirements, quality standards, production schedules, and established work instructions. This role requires a strong manufacturing leader who can effectively coordinate multiple skilled trades while working closely with Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, and day-shift leadership.\nBecause the organization is building advanced fusion technology, this position requires a leader who is comfortable operating in an environment where processes are continually being developed, refined, and improved. The successful candidate will be highly visible on the production floor, capable of making sound decisions in real time, and skilled at removing obstacles to keep critical assembly activities moving forward\nWhat you'll do:\nProduction Leadership\nLead assembly operations supporting tokamak construction and integration\nProvide direct supervision and coordination of Millwright, Welding, and Electrical union activities\nEstablish priorities for the shift based on the overall production schedule and critical-path activities\nEnsure work is properly staffed, sequenced, and executed to meet daily and weekly production objectives\nMonitor production progress throughout the shift and proactively address delays, constraints, and resource issues\nConduct shift-start meetings and communicate priorities, safety concerns, schedule requirements, and changes in work scope\nMaintain strong communication and handoff between day and night shifts\nProvide detailed shift reports documenting progress, issues, downtime, quality concerns, and outstanding work\nSkilled Trades Coordination\nCoordinate work across Millwright, Welding, and Electrical trades to ensure activities are properly sequenced and do not interfere with one another\nResolve conflicts between trades and establish clear priorities when multiple activities compete for resources or workspace\nWork closely with union leadership and shop stewards to ensure effective execution of work while maintaining positive labor relationships\nVerify that employees are assigned work appropriate to their trade, qualifications, and training\nEnsure work areas are properly prepared before releasing work to the appropriate trade\nCoordinate equipment, tooling, materials, permits, and technical information required to complete assigned work\nAdvanced Tokamak Assembly\nSupervise high-precision mechanical, electrical, structural, and welded assembly activities associated with the tokamak\nEnsure assembly work is performed according to engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and approved work instructions\nCoordinate installation and integration of complex components, systems, and subsystems\nWork closely with Engineering when drawings, specifications, procedures, or field conditions require clarification.\nIdentify installation issues and escalate technical problems appropriately\nSupport the development and continuous improvement of assembly processes and standard work\nMaintain a strong focus on configuration control and ensure unauthorized modifications are not made to engineered systems\nWhat we’re looking for:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field preferred;
