If an intern is going to be on site, you will be responsible for your own transportation and housing\nSpecific project assignments and required technical skillset will vary based on the team’s existing need.\nOpportunities available for currently enrolled college students in all levels of schooling from bachelor’s degree to PhD\nInterns must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer\nWhat you'll do:\nSupport day-to-day operations and test development work in the Materials Test Lab, including sample preparation, test execution, data collection, and analysis\nWork alongside engineers and technicians to enable material performance evaluation for critical fusion components\nContribute to custom test development projects\nExample projects may include: commissioning a new vacuum furnace, designing and testing a new polishing and etching recipe for novel materials, troubleshooting complex test equipment to enable renewed testing campaigns, creating and implementing methods to extract grain size or inclusion or other data from SEM or optical images, and working with FTIR\nWhat we’re looking for:\nPursuing an engineering degree with focus in the field of Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering\nExperience with FTIR, Optical and SEM imaging and polishing and sample preparation\nInterest or experience with materials science, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, mechanical testing, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, nanoscience, microscopy, engineering lab work, or instrumentation\nHands-on or engineering project experience or hands-on experience with materials testing and characterization equipment and testing procedures is preferred\nDemonstration of exceptional results through a range of different pursuits\nHigh self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills\nMust-have Requirements:\nWillingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally\nPerform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time\nDedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes,
