Responsible to lead and coordinate electrical design projects and interface with cross-function stakeholders while ensuring a high-quality design release that meets specifications, project timelines within budget allocated.\nWhat you'll do:\nDesign, model, simulate, analyze and validate power electronics circuits, magnetic components and control strategies for medium voltage power electronic converter systems (i.e. power supplies)\nDefine components and develop technical requirements and specifications for power electronic converter systems and other electrical designs\nDevelop test methods to qualify design from concept through final testing and commissioning steps including troubleshooting of converter systems\nContribute to cross-functional technical design activities to design, build and deliver electrical system designs for fusion power\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams on critical procurement contracts & vendor coordination efforts of critical technical and other project milestones\nDefine requirements and lead initial commissioning activities for power electronic systems\nDocument design specifications, simulations and test results into engineering reports\nWhat we’re looking for:\n8+ years of related experience with Bachelor’s degree (or) a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience with power electronics based systems\nProven track record in design and development (system, protection, control & mechanical integration) of power electronics based electrical systems\nKnowledge of various inverter circuit topologies and the benefits and limitations\nExperience with modeling & simulation with analysis tools such as PLECS, PSPICE, MATLAB etc\nExperience with semiconductor devices (IGBT, MOSFET, etc.) and magnetic components (transformers, inductors etc.)\nFundamental understanding of gate drive circuits, design and device protection\nExperience with packaging design of power conversion equipment and thermal management\nExperience with high power electrical equipment >10MW\nExperience with hands on testing of electrical components, sub-assemblies and systems in the laboratory and use of oscilloscopes and other measurement equipment\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to conduct design reviews, organize / present results to both expert and non-technical audiences\nResults driven and ability to embrace and convince stakeholders on a change in design direction in pursuit of a high-quality product release\nBonus points for:\nMaster’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on Power Electronics\nExperience in practical application of electrical engineering skills to construction, manufacturing, testing and field installations\nExperience with application of compliance standards to the designs (IEC, UL, CSA, NEC etc.)\nExperience in problem solving, root cause analysis and field containment actions\nExperience with hands on prototype build, prototype testing and documentation of results is a plus\nExperience with scaling up independent systems to a larger system to meet higher power requirements\nMust-have Requirements:\nAbility to lift up to 50lbs\nPerform activities such as standing, typing or sitting for extended periods of time\nWillingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally\nWork in a facility that contains industrial
