In this role, you will primarily support the development of next-generation fiber optic connectors used in conjunction with optical fiber cable assemblies and related hardware. You will play a key role throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through validation, launch, and ongoing product support.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nParticipate in new product development activities and support the release of new and modified products.\nDocument product requirements based on industry standards and voice of customer.\nDesign new components and assemblies and support optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic connectors.\nPerform component and assembly evaluation, data analysis and failure analysis. Write test reports detailing the results of testing.\nReview and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards.\nCoordinate with manufacturing teams on new process development during the introduction of new products into manufacturing.\nGenerate a Record of Invention for innovations and pursue intellectual property protection.\nDevelop awareness of corporate, business unit and quality management system documentation.\nDevelop knowledge of fiber optic products, relevant industry standards for these products and technical principles.\nGather knowledge of the range of lab test equipment and engineering tools such as LEAN or 6-sigma, DMAIC or other improvement processes, DoE, FMEA and MSA.\nCollaboration with cross-functional teams, which include designers, technicians, product managers, manufacturing & quality engineers in a team-oriented environment.\nThis position may travel to international locations and has growth potential per engineering technical ladder with six additional engineering titles each with increasing responsibilities.\nAccountability/Impact\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams around the world to design, develop, and launch innovative products while driving continuous improvements to existing solutions serving the data center, AI, and telecommunications markets.\nCompetencies\nTech Savvy: Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.\nResourcefulness: Securing and deploying resources effectively and efficiently.\nAction Oriented: Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.\nInterpersonal Savvy: Relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people.\nRequired Qualifications for Consideration:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or a similar technical field\nExperience with 3D modeling tools like CREO or SolidWorks\nExperience designing injection-molded parts\nLive within commuting distance of our Shakopee, MN facility\nDesirable Qualifications\nPrevious internship experience\nExperience with ANSYS Mechanical, Minitab, and/or geometric tolerancing\nSolid interpersonal abilities, including excellent verbal and writing skills.\nSkilled at planning and the ability to pay attention to details.\nAbility to optimally work within a team-based environment\nWhat Happens After You Apply:\nLearn how to prepare yourself for the next steps in our hiring process by visitinghttps://jobs.commscope.com/content/How-We-Hire/?locale=en_US\nOur salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 based on hired level and experience. The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan.
