This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands-on, broad technical scope and thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving development environment.\nThe successful candidate will contribute across the full product lifecycle-from concept and analysis through testing, documentation, and field support-acting as a technical generalist with depth in electrical engineering fundamentals.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Engineering & Development\nSupport the design, analysis, and validation of copper Ethernet cabling systems, including twisted-pair performance characteristics (impedance, insertion loss, crosstalk, return loss, etc.)\nContribute to the development and evaluation of hybrid fiber-power (HFP/FMPS) and powered communications systems, including power delivery, protection, and integration considerations\nAssist with electrical modeling, simulation, and lab measurement of cables, connectors, and system-level performance\nParticipate in failure analysis and root-cause investigations related to electrical and signal-integrity issues\nTesting & Validation\nConduct and document laboratory testing (electrical, thermal, environmental, and EMC-related tests)\nUse network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, data loggers, and related instrumentation\nSupport development and execution of test plans aligned with industry standards (TIA, IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC, and ect. as applicable)\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and compliance teams\nSupport interaction with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and field personnel\nAssist with preparation of technical documentation, drawings, reports, and internal design reviews\nContinuous Learning & Support\nStay current with evolving Ethernet, cabling, and power-delivery technologies\nSupport Product Development-related activities and product qualification efforts\nSupport standards development through participation and contribution\nSupport the industry through peer reviewed publication\nProvide technical assistance during prototyping, pilot builds, and early deployments\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required; other degrees not considered)\n10+ years of relevant engineering experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)\nStrong foundation in:Circuit analysis\nElectromagnetics and signal integrity\nAC/DC power fundamentals\nRF principles\n\nAbility to work effectively in a small-team, multi-disciplinary environment\nWillingness to be hands-on in both lab and office settings\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications\nExposure to structured cabling systems, Ethernet PHYs, or high-speed copper links\nFamiliarity with:Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs)\nTime-domain reflectometry (TDR)\nPower electronics or fault-managed power concepts\n\nExperience with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for data analysis\nAwareness of TIA, IEEE 802, UL, NEC, or IEC standards\nIdeal Candidate Profile\nThe ideal candidate is:\nCurious and adaptable a technical generalist comfortable wearing multiple hats\nComfortable moving between analysis, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting\nMotivated by real-world engineering problems rather than narrow specialization\nInterested in working close to the hardware and understanding how systems behave end-to-end\nWork Environment\nSmall, collaborative engineering team backed by a large enterprise\nMix of hands-on laboratory work and analytical/problem-solving tasks\nExposure to both product development and standards-driven engineering\nWhy CommScope:\nCommScope is on a quest to deliver connectivity that empowers how we live, work, and learn.
