The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions and drive the monthly close while creating. This position reports to the Controller, VP of Finance and Accounting and is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), reviewing and analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports. An ideal candidate is responsive, thoughtful, self-directed, positive, and seeking a challenging role.\nAs part of our mission to help individuals recover from substance use disorders, you’ll thrive in a supportive, engaging, and fulfilling work environment where your contributions are valued.\nAlong the way, we’ll invest in your well-being through a benefits package for full-time employees that includes:\nSubsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance\nHealth savings account\nShort and long-term disability insurance\nLife insurance\nPaid sick, vacation, and holiday time\n401K retirement plan with match\nTuition reimbursement up to 100%\nEmployee assistance program to support your mental health and wellness\nOngoing professional development \nResponsibilities:\nSupervises Senior Accountants and provides indirect oversight of their staff.\nMonitor and review financial transactions and activities of the company.\nPrepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with various statutory requirements, GAAP, and established policies and procedures. \nMaintain accounting controls and audit documents. \nPrepare journal entries and maintain supporting documents. \nAssist in the preparation of various special reports as directed. \nAssist with external audit requests and provide information as requested. \nParticipate in special projects, team training, and development of team members. \nProvide technical accounting support to various departments. \nAssist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities. \nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or require\nRequirements\nCollege Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. \nMinimum 7 years of Accounting/Finance experience.\nPrivate Equity backed company experienced highly preferred.\nAdvanced computer skills including Microsoft 365.\nExperience with Intacct or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software preferred. \nKnowledge of the full accounting cycle. \nExperience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas. \nWell organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment. \nAbility to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters \nExcellent understanding of English, both written and verbal required; ability to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner with employees, clients, vendors, business contacts \nAbility to adhere to a high level of attention to detail \nAbility to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management \nAbility to be self-directed in a team-oriented environment \nPosition requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, and occasional walking and standing. \nPosition requires light to moderate work with 20 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. \nPosition requires frequent use of a computer, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.\nTools and Equipment Requirements:\nThe ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required.\nFrequent use of Microsoft office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nThe ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required. \nPhysical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description:\nRequires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.\nManual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.\nRequires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.\nSome lifting may be required.\nFrequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.\nRequires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.\nEmployee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.\nAbout Community Medical Services\nCommunity Medical Services (CMS) is a CARF accredited addiction treatment program providing services in the form of outpatient medication-assisted treatment and one on one and group counseling to those seeking help with their opioid use disorder.
