Compass Community is seeking a dedicated School Operations Officer to ensure the smooth running of our School’s non-teaching operations. This is a pivotal role, sitting between office staff and senior leadership, where you’ll make a real difference to our staff, pupils, and families.\n\nAbout the Role\nWhat You’ll Do\n-Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school office, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front-of-house service.\n-Manage school systems and databases, including pupil records, attendance, and safeguarding.\n-Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Headteacher and wider school team.\n-Coordinate maintenance, health and safety checks, and resource orders.\n-Support statutory data submissions and compliance processes.\n-Act as the first point of contact for parents and carers, ensuring timely and professional communication.\n-Organise school meetings and events, including agendas and minute-taking.\n-Support with HR administration, admissions, and financial compliance.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n-Strong administrative experience, ideally in education, social care, or a regulatory setting.\n-Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).\n-Highly organised, with outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.\n-Clear communicator, both written and verbal.\n-Discreet, professional, and committed to confidentiality.\n-Collaborative, resilient, and motivated by supporting others and improving systems.\n-A child-centred outlook, aligned with Compass’ REACH ethos.\nWhat Success Looks Like\n-Headteachers feel well-supported and equipped to focus on leadership priorities.\n-Administrative systems and trackers are accurate, timely, and accessible.\n-Compliance data is proactively monitored and shared to support readiness and governance.\n-Operational teams experience smooth and efficient administrative coordination.\n-Staff and pupils feel supported by smooth operations, enabling better teaching and learning.\nCandidate Profile\nQualifications & Experience\n-Strong administrative experience, ideally in a social care, education or regulatory setting.\n-Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).\n-Familiarity with compliance processes, audits or data reporting (desirable).\nSkills & Attributes\n-Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.\n-Clear communicator, both written and verbal.\n-Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.\n-Discreet, professional and committed to confidentiality.\n-Motivated by supporting others and improving systems.\nCandidate Profile - Behavioural & Cultural Fit\n-Resilience and ability to work under pressure in a busy school environment.\n-Collaborative approach, working well with teaching staff, parents, and external partners.\n-A child-centred outlook, aligned with Compass’ REACH ethos\nWhy Compass Community?\nWe exist to create a future of strength and opportunity for every child.
