Our all-in-one school management platform is redefining how education communities connect, communicate and operate.\nWe're now looking for an Accountant to support timely, robust monthly reporting for the Compass group and help keep our day-to-day finance operations running smoothly.\nAbout the Role\nYou'll support the monthly reporting cycle for the consolidated group, including financial reporting, analysis and tax compliance, and run the finance operations behind it - from accounts payable and bank reconciliations through to debt recovery.\nIt's a broad, hands-on role for an early-career accountant who takes pride in accuracy and deadlines, with the chance to learn across the full finance function while working closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and wider Finance team.\nWhat You'll Do\nMonth-End & Group Reporting\nPerform month-end tasks and assist with preparing reporting. \nComplete monthly GL account reconciliations. \nAssist with the monthly consolidation of the group accounts. \nSupport the Financial Controller, and CFO with financail analysis, reporting and ad-hoc requests. \nTax, Audit & Controls\nAssist with tax compliance and lodgements.\nSupport audit and statutory accounts.\nContribute to the review and development of finance processes and controls.\nAccounts Payable & Payroll\nProcess invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy.\nPrepare and process payments. \nMaintain vendor records and information\nAssist with expense claims.\nSupport payroll processing.\nBank Reconciliation & Debt Recovery\nReconcile bank accounts, including allocating payments and transfers to the correct accounts. \nInvestigate and resolve discrepancies in bank statements. \nContact schools to follow up outstanding debts, and keep accurate records of recovery activity. \nImplement effective debt collection strategies. \nFinance Team Support\nProvide general support to the finance team, including data entry and report preparation. \nAd-hoc tasks as requested by manager. \nRequirements\nAbout You\nYou will bring:\n2+ years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping or finance, including month-end, reconciliations and accounts payable.\nCPA or CA membership, or currently working towards it. \nA Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance or a related field.\nWorking knowledge of accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliation and debtor management.\nA foundational understanding of tax compliance and lodgements.\nStrong attention to detail, and comfort working to tight month-end deadlines.\nClear communication skills, and confidence following up debts with school customers. \nHighly regarded\nExposure to group consolidation, or to audit and statutory accounts support.\nExperience in a SaaS or education environment.\nBenefits\nWhy Join Compass\nYou'll join a purpose-driven company at a genuinely exciting stage of growth, with the chance to build broad experience across reporting, tax, payables, payroll and debt recovery.\nWhat we offer:\nA hybrid working environment, based out of our Melbourne office hub.\nLearning and development opportunities, including a dedicated PD budget.\n24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), including face-to-face, phone and live chat support.\nA parental leave program for both primary and secondary carers.\nRegular team events, social budgets and in-office perks help you stay connected, from team lunches to end-of-week socials.\nEmployee Referral Program\nA supportive, inclusive culture where your voice is valued and heard.\nCompass is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
