The position contributes to technical direction, collaborates with cross-functional partners to solve real operational challenges, and operates with modern tools and frameworks.\nWhat will you do?\nDevelop, enhance, test, deploy, document, and maintain software applications across the full technology stack, including frontend, backend, database, server, networking, and solution architecture components.\n\nProvide application development services and technical support for existing systems and new technology deployments. Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions and specifications.\n\nDesign, develop, analyze, and modify application logic to meet business needs, evaluating multiple solution options and recommending the most effective approach.\n\nWrite high-quality, maintainable code; create and execute test plans; perform debugging and troubleshooting; and ensure compliance with established software development standards and best practices.\n\nSupport and enhance cloud-based and third-party applications throughout their lifecycle, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and alignment with business objectives.\n\nDevelop technology strategies and implement improvements that maximize the value of existing products, while considering impacts across applications, integrations, and business processes.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives involving application systems, data processes, integrations, and data governance practices.\n\nTake end-to-end ownership of assigned work by accurately estimating effort, delivering tested and reviewed solutions, and proactively communicating progress, risks, and blockers.\n\nLeverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly and in accordance with organizational policies, ensuring the ability to understand, explain, validate, and modify all generated code.\n\nMentor and coach software developers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving activities.\n\nPartner with development teams and stakeholders across the United States, Brazil, and Latin America to deliver technology solutions that support national offices, churches, and end users.\n\nEngage directly with users and business partners when required to resolve software issues, gather additional requirements, and support the delivery of new functionality.\n\nInterpret business and user requirements, translate them into technical implementations, and incorporate feedback received through code reviews and quality assurance processes.\n\nContribute to the definition, adoption, and continuous improvement of software engineering standards, development methodologies, and technical best practices.\n\nChampion child protection by integrating safeguarding considerations into daily work, adhering to Compassion’s Child Protection policies and Code of Conduct, and reporting any concerns through established processes.\n\nWhat are we looking for?\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nMinimum of 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web development.\n\nStrong frontend development skills using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required.\n\nExperience with PHP/Laravel, APIs, databases, and backend technologies.\n\nProven ability to design, develop, and implement end-to-end software solutions.\n\nStrong understanding of servers, networking, and application architecture.\n\nExperience conducting and participating in code reviews.\n\nAbility to explain technical decisions and communicate project status, risks, and results effectively.\n\nDemonstrated ownership, accountability, and self-management.\n\nExperience mentoring or coaching other developers.\n\nStrong collaboration skills and experience working with distributed teams.\n\nProfessional proficiency in English and Spanish.\n\nAbility to use AI-assisted development tools responsibly while maintaining full ownership of delivered solutions.\n\nKey Competencies:\nOwnership & Accountability\n\nCommunication\n\nCollaboration\n\nProblem Solving\n\nCoaching & Mentoring\n\n*** Equivalent education, training, experience and/or certification may be substituted for any of the minimum qualifications listed above ***\nWhat are the main work conditions for this role?\nLocation: \nGuatemala, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti or El Salvador.\n\nWork environment\nRemote work.\n\nPhysical demands:\nSitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day.\n\nTravel requirements:\nMay be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule\n\nCompassion International uses standardized job families and associated job descriptions.
