Thishands-on Senior Accountant role is suited to someone with approximately three to four years of relevant experience and will be part of an initial two-person accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller.\nThe immediate priorities are customer invoicing, customer account maintenance, accounts receivable, and sales tax administration. An external accounting firm will initially handle some account reconciliations and portions of the monthly close. The function is expected to move fully in-house over approximately 12 months, with this role taking on additional accounting responsibilities as the transition progresses.\nWhat You'll Do Initially\nCustomer invoicing and customer accounts\nPrepare and issue timely, accurate customer invoices; work with internal teams to resolve billing questions and discrepancies.\n\nRecord and apply customer payments and credit memos accurately. Confirm that each customer has the appropriate credits on their account and research unapplied payments and credit balances.\n\nCoordinate refunds and account adjustments under established approval procedures, maintaining supporting documentation.\n\nRespond to customer billing inquiries and reconcile customer account balances.\n\nAccounts receivable and collections\nMonitor AR aging and provide first-line follow-up on overdue invoices, payment discrepancies, and disputed balances.\n\nWork with customers and other team members on collections in coordination with the Controller; maintain follow-up records and escalate unresolved items.\n\nProvide the Controller with updates on aging, collection activity, and accounts requiring attention.\n\nSales tax administration\nHandle day-to-day sales tax administration under the Controller’s oversight, including reviewing tax charged on customer invoices and researching discrepancies.\n\nMaintain customer exemption certificates and supporting sales tax records.\n\nPrepare sales tax account reconciliations, investigate differences, and coordinate corrections with the Controller and external providers.\n\nCoordinate and monitor sales tax return preparation and filing by external providers, review supporting information, and track filing and payment deadlines.\n\nAssist with sales tax notices and information requests, referring technical questions and compliance decisions to the Controller and external tax advisors.\n\nRoles and Responsibilities\nAdditional duties will be assigned progressively by the Controller as work transitions from the external accounting firm. These may include:\nPrepare recurring and adjusting journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet account reconciliations.\n\nComplete assigned monthly close tasks within the Controller’s close schedule and assist with financial reporting and variance analysis.\n\nMaintain fixed asset records and record depreciation, payroll, benefits, and related accruals.\n\nSupport accounts payable, including invoice coding, approval routing, vendor inquiries, vendor records, and payment preparation under established approval controls.\n\nAssist with expense reports, corporate card reconciliations, 1099 preparation, and supporting schedules for external tax preparers.\n\nLearn existing processes from the external accounting firm and help transfer supporting records and workpapers.\n\nFollow procedures and controls established by the Controller, help document and implement them, and provide input on recurring issues or practical improvements.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n4+ years of relevant accounting experience, including hands-on customer invoicing, customer account maintenance, and accounts receivable.\nBachelor’s Degree in Accounting\nWorking knowledge of sales tax administration, including sales tax account reconciliations, exemption certificates, and coordination of return preparation and filing.\nUnderstanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and the monthly close process.\nDemonstrated curiosity and ownership mindset;
