You will set technical direction for the Android platform, lead the modernization of a large production codebase, and raise the engineering bar across the mobile team.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nOwn the Android app architecture: modularization, layering, state management, navigation, and dependency injection.\nDefine and drive the Android technical roadmap, including the Java to Kotlin and XML to Jetpack Compose migration.\nAuthor architecture decision records (ADRs) and design docs; review and approve significant designs and critical PRs.\nDesign API contracts with backend teams covering REST, pagination, error handling, offline sync, and versioning.\nSet and enforce targets for crash-free users, ANR rate, cold start time, app size, and memory usage.\nLead root-cause analysis for production crashes and incidents, and drive fixes to closure.\nDefine the Android testing strategy (unit, UI, integration) and automation coverage gates per release.\nOwn app security: encrypted storage, certificate pinning, token handling, and OWASP MASVS alignment.\nImprove CI/CD, Gradle build performance, the release train, staged rollouts, and feature flag usage.\nMentor Android engineers, run architecture reviews, and take part in technical hiring.\n\nRequired Skills:\n7+ years of software engineering, including 5+ years building native Android apps shipped at scale.\n2+ years in an architect, tech lead, or principal role owning architecture decisions.\nExpert in Kotlin, with strong working knowledge of Java for legacy code and hands-on Jetpack Compose and View/XML interop.\nStrong in Coroutines, Flow, and StateFlow, with a solid grasp of threading and lifecycle.\nExpert in MVVM / MVI, Clean Architecture, and multi-module project structure.\nExperience with Hilt/Dagger, Room, DataStore, Retrofit, OkHttp, and WorkManager.\nProficient with Gradle (Kotlin DSL), version catalogs, R8/ProGuard, and build optimization.\nTesting with JUnit, MockK, Espresso, and Compose UI testing.\nPerformance work using Android Profiler, Baseline Profiles, Macrobenchmark, and ANR analysis.\nExperience with Firebase Crashlytics, FCM, and Play Console (staged rollouts, vitals, policy compliance).\nMobile CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps and Fastlane.\nClear written communication for design docs, ADRs, and RCA reports.\n\nGood to Have:\nWorking knowledge of iOS or Kotlin Multiplatform.\nExperience with WebView/React screens embedded in native apps and bridge design.\nMobile payments or POS experience (card readers, tap-to-pay, PCI
