This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership capabilities, a detail-oriented mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable (AP) department while also playing a critical role in building a scalable AP function to support the organization.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeadership & Team Management\nSupervise, mentor, and develop a team of AP specialists and an AP supervisor, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.\nSet clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.\nEnsure proper training and cross-training to build a resilient and knowledgeable team.\nMonitor employee productivity and workload\nPolicy & Process Development\nDesign, document, and implement new AP policies and procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.\nEstablish controls and best practices to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.\nPartner with internal departments to align processes and support organizational needs.\nEvaluate current workflows and recommend improvements to drive automation and reduce manual work.\nOperational Oversight\nOversee full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, and payment runs.\nManage vendor relationships, ensuring prompt communication and issue resolution.\nMonitor AP aging reports and ensure timely payment to vendors.\nCommunicate with finance group to ensure accounts are funded appropriately\nTechnology & Systems\nAssist in the implementation or optimization of AP systems or software, working closely with Digital Technology and Finance teams.\nIdentify opportunities to leverage automation and digitization to streamline processes.\n\nRequired Knowledge & Skills\n5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, with at least 2 years in a leadership role\nPrevious experience in accounting within the real estate industry is an asset\nPost-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, finance or related discipline is preferred\nEffective people management skills\nAbility to manage confidential information effectively\nProven experience developing and implementing AP policies and process improvements\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nPlease note this is a general description of the tasks and skills required.
