This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while driving process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency. The Controller leads and develops a high-performing accounting team and partners with the CFO & Treasurer and executive leadership to support financial decision-making, organizational objectives, and continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities:\nStrategic Leadership and Organizational Impact:\nDevelop and execute functional strategies and plans that align with organizational goals and objectives.\nRecommend new initiatives, special projects, and innovations to improve organizational effectiveness and operational performance.\nProvide high-level direction and leadership to large teams or multiple functional areas, ensuring alignment with company-wide priorities.\nDrive technical innovation and excellence across the organization to enhance capabilities and competitiveness.\nCollaborate with senior leadership to shape organizational strategy and ensure alignment with client and stakeholder needs.\n\nOperational Oversight and Resource Management:\nOversee the planning, staffing, and execution of large-scale projects and programs, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and strategic goals.\nManage budgets and profit/loss responsibility for revenue growth within assigned areas, ensuring financial performance and sustainability.\nEnsure optimal allocation of resources, including technology, personnel, and funding, to meet program requirements and organizational objectives.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvement and innovation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.\n\nWorkforce Development and Mentorship:\nLead the recruitment, retention, and development of top talent across multiple functional areas.\nProvide advanced mentoring and coaching to managers and team leaders, fostering professional growth and leadership development.\nPromote a culture of collaboration, trust, and innovation across teams and divisions.\nActively support employee development initiatives to enhance technical capabilities and organizational effectiveness.\n\nBusiness Development and Strategic Initiatives:\nLead technical participation in business capture efforts and proposals to support new initiatives and organizational growth.\nCollaborate with business development teams to identify opportunities for expansion and innovation.\nAlign workforce planning and technical participation with business development strategies to drive sustained growth.\n\nBehavioral and Leadership Excellence:\nDemonstrate the organization’s values in daily interactions with staff, clients, and stakeholders.\nSeek out pertinent data, analyze complex problems, and make timely, logical decisions based on evidence.\nAdjust approaches to meet strategic goals, manage competing priorities, and adapt to evolving challenges.\nActively pursue opportunities to improve and acquire additional knowledge and skills.\nDemonstrate personal accomplishment and a desire to excel by setting and maintaining ambitious standards for achievement.\n\nManager Defined Field:\nProvide strategic leadership and oversight of all Finance & Accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, contract/project accounting, payroll, expense reporting, financial reporting, and cost accounting.\nEnsure accurate, timely monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting; maintain compliance with GAAP, government contracting regulations (FAR, CAS, DCAA, Uniform Guidance), and tax/regulatory requirements.\nEstablish and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; monitor financial reporting risks and drive corrective actions and control enhancements.\nDirect external financial audits and major tax/regulatory filings, including preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules.\nLead finance and accounting process improvement, automation, and ERP/system enhancement initiatives to improve efficiency, data integrity, and reporting quality.\nDevelop and execute long-range Finance & Accounting strategies, departmental goals, and resource plans to support organizational growth and financial sustainability.\nLead and mentor senior finance and accounting leaders; drive talent development, succession planning, and a high-performance, integrity-focused culture.\nPartner with the CFO & Treasurer, executive leadership, and the Board to provide actionable financial analysis, accounting guidance, and recommendations on complex financial, operational, and strategic matters.
