When our platform is down or slow, a customer’s cash gets stuck. We’re hiring a DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure and tooling that keeps the platform fast, safe, and easy to ship to.\nYou’ll work across AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, observability, and security. Your goal is to make it easier for every engineer at Confido to ship confidently, debug quickly, and operate production without heroics. This is a hands-on role. You’ll split your time between planned platform projects and whatever production needs today. You’ll work closely with our product engineers and engineering leadership. We expect you to form your own opinions about where the platform needs to go and then make it happen.\nLocation: New York, NY (in office; relocation supported)\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn and improve our production infrastructure on AWS, including Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, S3, networking, IAM, and load balancing.\n\nManage infrastructure as code in Terraform so that every change is reviewable, repeatable, and safe to roll back.\n\nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for our Rails, Python, and TypeScript services, including migrations and automated testing.\n\nExpand observability across services with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana, so issues surface before customers notice them.\n\nInvestigate production incidents, find root causes, and ship lasting fixes instead of manual workarounds.\n\nMake deployments safer with automated checks, progressive rollouts, and clear rollback paths.\n\nPartner with product engineers on local development, test environments, and release workflows.\n\nTrack capacity, reliability, and cloud spend, and make practical improvements as customer volume grows.\n\nHelp define our incident response, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.\n\nJoin a shared on-call rotation, and make on-call better for everyone on it.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nFirst 30 days: You’ll learn our architecture, deployment process, and security controls. You’ll ship changes through the existing pipeline. You’ll review recent incidents and recurring pain points, and start knocking some of them out.\nBy 60 days: You’ll own a meaningful area, such as CI/CD, observability, deployment reliability, or cloud security. You’ll also deliver improvements that cut manual work or make releases faster and safer.\nBy 90 days: You’ll land a significant platform improvement with measurable results, such as faster deploys, fewer incidents, better recovery time, stronger security, or lower cloud cost. You’ll also have a prioritized infrastructure roadmap, and you’ll be the person the team trusts on production and platform decisions.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nRequired\n3+ Years of experience building and operating production infrastructure for a software product\n\nStrong AWS experience, including a working understanding of networking, compute, storage, databases, and IAM\n\nExperience running containerized workloads on Kubernetes\n\nInfrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)\n\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines\n\nSolid instincts for observability, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis\n\nAbility to automate operational work in Python, shell, or another language\n\nStrong security judgment, since our customers trust us with their financial data\n\nThe ability to turn messy operational problems into simple, maintainable solutions\n\nClear, concise written and verbal communication\n\nNice to Have\nExperience supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance programs\n\nExperience with systems that handle financial, payments, or other sensitive data\n\nExperience at an early-stage, high-growth B2B SaaS company\n\nOur Stack\nWe care much more about strong fundamentals than experience with any particular tool, but today we primarily use AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Python, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, OpenTelemetry, Grafana/Prometheus, and GitHub Actions.\nPerks + Benefits\nEquity -
