This role provides leadership in the application of Design Controls, Risk Management, Verification & Validation, usability engineering, transfer to manufacturing, and regulatory compliance activities for medical devices. The Senior Design Quality Engineer independently leads complex quality engineering projects, provides strategic guidance to cross-functional teams, mentors junior engineers, and partners with Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Clinical, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure products are developed and maintained in accordance with applicable global regulations and quality system requirements.\n**This is an on-site role in Memphis, TN.**\nKey Duties and Responsibilities\nServe as Design Quality lead for product development projects.\nProvide quality oversight throughout the design control process.\nLead risk management activities in accordance with ISO 14971.\nReview and approve DHF documentation.\nSupport design reviews and ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, EU MDR, and other applicable regulations.\nProvide quality leadership for verification and validation activities.\nSupport design transfer and manufacturing readiness activities.\nAct as quality SME for product development teams.\nLead investigation of complex product complaints, field issues, and quality events related to commercialized products.\nSupport complaint trending, post-market surveillance, and product performance monitoring.\nLead or support NCs/CAPAs associated with released products.\nEvaluate and implement design changes, supplier changes, manufacturing changes, and risk management updates impacting released products.\nPartner with Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and Supply Chain to resolve product quality issues.\nSupport assessment of field actions, recalls, and regulatory reporting activities as applicable.\nParticipate in lifecycle risk assessments and product improvement initiatives. Internal quality procedures\nSupport global regulatory submissions and associated quality documentation.\nParticipate in internal, supplier, customer, and regulatory audits.\nSupport inspection readiness activities.\nEnsure quality records comply with regulatory and internal requirements.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Management System.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to Quality Engineers and cross-functional partners.\nLead complex quality engineering projects with minimal supervision.\nDevelop and improve quality engineering procedures, templates, and best practices.\nServe as a technical escalation point for quality and compliance issues.\nInfluence strategic quality decisions through risk-based decision making.\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nB.S. degree in Engineering such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering and 5+ years of medical device experience (or equivalent work experience).\n2 years of experience supporting Design Controls, Risk Management, Verification & Validation, and product lifecycle management.\n2 years of experience supporting both new product development and sustaining/commercialized product activities.\nPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS\nExperience supporting FDA inspections and notified body audits.\nExperience with 510(k), PMA, EU MDR, or international regulatory submissions.\nExperience leading cross-functional quality initiatives and mentoring engineers.\nExperience utilizing data analysis and visualization tools.\nFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.\nTechnical writing experience.\nKnowledge of quality engineering tools such as:\nFishbone Diagrams\n5 Whys\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively in cross-functional environments.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nProficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.\nPareto Analysis\nFMEA concepts\nStatistical trend analysis\nADA Disclosure:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
