The Director will operate in alignment with ConMed’s Leadership Expectations and will lead a team Engineering Managers.\nThis is an onsite role based in Denver, Colorado.\nKey Duties & Responsibilities:\nLeadership:\nDefine and deliver Mechanical Engineering team vision aligned with business objectives and overall Advanced Surgical R&D vision.\nPartner with R&D counterparts, Marketing, and other critical functions to develop portfolio strategy and technology roadmaps.\nIdentify emerging technologies and integrate them into product roadmaps.\nFoster a culture of innovation and accountability\nActively support the career development of managers and engineers\nCreate a vision that inspires the team to push the boundaries and raise the standard of excellence \nManagement/Communication:\nContributes to R&D leadership meetings and updates\nFacilitates team and business meetings effectively\nEffectively communicates opportunities, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to superiors\nDelivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.\nResolves and/or escalates issues as appropriate.\nUnderstands how to facilitate communicate difficult/sensitive information.\nIdentifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.\nDevelops team and organizational talent and development plans\nDevelops and executes annual budget and resource management\nProduct Development Execution\nOversees the entire product lifecycle - from early-stage product development through sustaining on-market products - across the entire product portfolio, ensuring compliance to applicable requirements and standards.\nChampion best innovation practices, implement robust development processes, and drive continuous improvement in technology and product performance.\nEnsure projects are properly resourced with the right level of skillsets and experience\nMinimum Requirements:\nFour (4) year degree minimum in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.\n10+ years in medical device R&D or similar, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.\n20% Travel\nPreferred Requirements:\nMaster’s degree is highly desirable\nProven track record in product development under FDA and ISO 13485 compliance.\nThis position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level.
