The Senior Director of Content Strategy & Corporate Communications is responsible for leading a combined Content and Corporate Communications function focused on translating ConnectWise business priorities into a clear, consistent, measurable content and communications engine. This role leads narrative evolution and governance, content strategy, editorial direction, executive communications and thought leadership, public relations, internal and partner communications, social and community engagement, reputation reporting, crisis communications readiness, and communications operations.
Reporting to the VP, Brand, this leader manages a multidisciplinary team of content and communications professionals and builds the operating model, tools, reporting, AI-enabled workflows, and governance needed to improve quality, speed, consistency, stakeholder alignment, reputation visibility, partner experience, and measurable business impact at scale.
This is a hands-on Senior Director role that combines strategic leadership with practical editorial, communications, people leadership, and operating model ownership. The role is supported by a team of specialized owners across PR, internal communications, partner/email communications, social media, content calendar and asset lifecycle operations, experiential content, editorial production, and blog/content execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads the Content Strategy & Corporate Communications function spanning narrative governance, blog and asset strategy, event content partnership, executive thought leadership, PR/media relations, partner communications, internal communications, social media and third-party community engagement, crisis communications, reputation analytics, content operations, and editorial standards.
- Owns short- to long-term execution of the content and communications strategy, operating plan, and roadmap aligned to ConnectWise priorities, the brand narrative, ConnectWise Platform differentiation, PSA, AI/automation, CW Agentic, product launches, partner experience, pipeline quality, renewal durability, and revenue growth priorities. Aligns stakeholders on objectives, audiences, messaging, timing, review cycles, approvals, content reuse, and execution plans.
- Evolves and governs the ConnectWise narrative, ensuring consistent messaging across brand, product, partner, event, executive, demand generation, social, PR, internal, and sales/partner enablement content.
- Provides editorial direction for priority content including blogs, long-form assets, executive thought leadership, event content, partner-facing communications, internal updates, media materials, and reputation-sensitive messaging.
- Oversees the Content Team Lead and Content Marketing Specialist to ensure content calendars, briefs, asset lifecycles, blog promotion plans, activation, and performance tracking are disciplined and aligned to business priorities.
- Oversees the Senior Manager, Public Relations & Communications to ensure PR, partner communications, email communications, internal communications, agency coordination, media engagement, and risk/escalation processes are strategically aligned and well executed.
- Oversees the Social Media Manager to ensure owned social channels, employee advocacy, executive social content, social reporting, and online engagement align to company narrative, partner experience, and reputation goals.
- Oversees the Senior Experiential Content Manager to ensure event content, track strategy, speaker bureau operations, executive speaking opportunities, session narratives, and post-event content repurposing support brand priorities, product priorities, partner needs, and business outcomes.
- Oversees the Content Production & Editorial Manager to ensure style governance, copyediting, proofing, editorial quality control, contractor management, and copy standards improve consistency across the team.
- Leads executive communications and thought leadership strategy in partnership with executives, VP of Brand, Corporate Communications and Content team, PR agency partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring each piece reflects the appropriate defined executive voice and advances priority narratives.
- Owns reporting and analysis across content performance, Share of Voice, sentiment, reach, engagement, message pull-through, media quality, social/community insights, executive visibility, partner/internal communications engagement, and operational health.
- Leads crisis communications strategy, readiness, monitoring, escalation model, approvals, execution, and post-incident learning in partnership with Security, Legal, Product, Partner Experience, Support, People/HR, and executive stakeholders.
- Owns the operating model for monitoring and automation of reputation signals across media, social channels, Reddit, online communities, and other third-party discussion forums, with a clear decision matrix and escalation paths.
- Builds and optimizes tools, dashboards, AI-enabled workflows, automation, templates, playbooks, intake processes, governance, review cycles, and measurement cadences that improve speed, consistency, insight quality, and team scalability.
- Leads, prioritizes, mentors, and coaches team members; clarifies roles, responsibilities, goals, development plans, decision rights, operating cadences, and success measures as the restructured team matures.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:
- Mature, level-headed, strategic, proactive, thorough, collaborative, resilient, and able to exercise sound judgment in high-pressure and ambiguous situations.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, stakeholder management, customer/partner orientation, cross-functional collaboration, and executive influence skills.
- Executive presence well-suited for advising senior leaders, interacting with agencies and media, and representing the function in internal and external-facing situations.
- Strong editorial judgment and ability to translate complex technical, product, platform, AI, partner, operational, and reputational topics into clear and audience-relevant content and communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to shape executive voices, message sensitive topics, and improve content quality without creating unnecessary friction.
- Ability to build and govern narratives, messaging frameworks, editorial standards, style guidance, content workflows, communications playbooks, review cycles, and approval processes.
- Strong analytical capability and comfort using data to evaluate content and communications performance, identify risks/opportunities, and guide recommendations.
- Deep understanding of PR, media relations, crisis/issues management, internal communications, partner/customer communications, executive communications, content strategy, social/community engagement, and reputation management.
- Moderate to high fluency in strategically using AI tools as part of daily workflow, with the expectation to continue building skills and optimizing processes for self and across the team.
- Familiarity with content management, project management (Asana, Monday), media monitoring, social listening, email communications, intranet/content management (SharePoint, DAM platforms), SEO/content optimization, marketing automation/CRM, analytics, and dashboard/reporting tools.
- Ability to work constructively and independently under stress and pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with competing priorities and sensitive business needs.
- Strong organizational skills, tact, discretion, emotional intelligence, practical judgment, and exemplary interpersonal skills.
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent business experience.
- 10+ years of relevant content strategy, corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, internal communications, editorial, brand, product marketing, integrated marketing, content operations, or related experience; SaaS experience preferred.
- 4+ years of people management experience, including experience leading a small to medium multidisciplinary team; experience managing or mentoring a people manager/second-line leader preferred.
- Experience in B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, IT management, managed services, enterprise software, MSP/managed services, or partner/channel-led businesses preferred.
- Proven experience advising executives, managing agencies/vendors, and partnering cross-functionally across Marketing, Product, Sales, People/HR, Legal, Security, Customer Success, Partner Experience, Support, and Events organizations.
- Experience creating and governing content and communications across blogs, long-form assets, executive thought leadership, PR/media relations, crisis communications, social, internal communications, partner-facing materials, campaign content, events, and sales/partner enablement.
- Successful track record of leading teams to strong outcomes while improving tools, workflows, reporting, editorial standards, communications readiness, and operating rhythm. Writing samples required.
Working Conditions:
- Remote, U.S.-based role; Eastern Time core working hours preferred.
- Approximately 15% travel may be required for team meetings, executive meetings, ConnectWise events, industry events, and media or speaking opportunities.
- May require availability outside normal business hours for time-sensitive communications, crisis response, executive communications, events, launches, or regional needs.
