The Cost Estimator is responsible for managing assigned tasks and portions of projects, contributing to estimate development across all phases of design, and supporting cost control efforts throughout the project lifecycle.\nThis position includes estimating execution, coordination with project stakeholders, and participation in quality assurance processes. The role also contributes to team collaboration, client interaction, and the continued development of estimating practices. This position reports to senior leadership within the cost management team.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCost Estimating and Project Execution\nDevelop cost estimates at all levels, including conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction documents\nPerform quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost analysis across major construction disciplines\nSupport preparation of budgets, cost plans, and estimate reports for client deliverables\nEnsure estimates reflect current market conditions, labor availability, productivity assumptions, and project-specific logistics\nCoordinate with internal team members and disciplines to ensure completeness and consistency of scope\nTechnical Review and Coordination\nReview project drawings and specifications to ensure accurate interpretation of scope and system requirements\nIdentify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and coordination issues across disciplines\nSupport constructability reviews and provide input on sequencing and system integration\nAssist in evaluating cost and schedule impacts associated with design changes\nCost Management and Analysis\nSupport monitoring of project budgets and cost control efforts during design development\nAnalyze historical cost data and benchmarking information to validate estimate accuracy\nAssist in change order evaluations and cost impact assessments\nContribute to identification of value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies\nClient and Stakeholder Coordination\nCommunicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify scope and assumptions\nParticipate in project meetings, estimate reviews, and coordination discussions\nSupport client relationships through responsiveness and clear communication\nQuality Assurance / Quality Control\nParticipate in QA/QC processes, including peer reviews and estimate reconciliation\nEnsure deliverables meet company standards for accuracy, consistency, and documentation\nIncorporate review comments and feedback into estimate updates\nMarket Awareness and Data Management\nMaintain awareness of construction market conditions, including labor and material pricing trends\nSupport updates to internal cost databases and benchmarking tools\nAssist in gathering pricing data from contractors, vendors, and industry sources\nTeam Collaboration and Development\nWork collaboratively with senior staff and project teams to deliver high-quality estimates\nProvide guidance and support to junior estimators as needed\nContribute to process improvements and standardization efforts\nQualifications/Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n3-6 years of experience in cost estimating and preconstruction services\nExperience working on projects ranging from $5 million to $100+ million\nExperience supporting conceptual and early-stage estimating efforts\nDemonstrated ability to perform estimates with increasing independence and technical responsibility\n Scheduling experience preferred with knowledge or use of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project\nAbility to read and interpret drawings and specifications across all disciplines\nUnderstanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and installation practices\nFamiliarity with cost modeling, benchmarking, and estimating methodologies\nWorking knowledge of contract documents and project delivery methods\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating tools (e.g., Sage Timberline, MCASES MII, or similar platforms)\nCompensation Range:\n$95,000-$120,000 annually\nWhat’s In It For You:\nCompany-paid life and disability insurance\nOptional benefits like pet insurance, legal, and supplemental health plans\n401(k) with day-one eligibility.
