Consor is a North American infrastructure engineering firm focused on water and transportation, providing advisory services, planning, design, structural assessment and construction management for public agencies and private clients. It works from a network of offices across the US, including Houston, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Knoxville, San Diego, Seattle and Draper, as well as Toronto in Canada. It hires bridge and roadway design engineers, traffic and transportation project managers, construction engineering and inspection engineers, drainage and water specialists, environmental GIS analysts and project accountants.

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Water & Wastewater Engineering Designer, you will play a key role in the planning and design of critical infrastructure projects that support safe and reliable water distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment systems. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will develop detailed design drawings, technical plans, and construction documents for pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, treatment facilities, and other municipal infrastructure.

This position offers the opportunity to apply engineering and CAD design principles while gaining hands-on experience with industry standards, utility coordination, permitting requirements, and multidisciplinary project delivery. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver who is eager to expand their technical expertise and contribute to projects that positively impact communities across the region.

Projected Compensation: $92,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation above this range may be considered for candidates whose experience and expertise significantly exceed the minimum requirements.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare detailed design drawings, layouts, profiles, and construction plan sets for water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment, and water resources infrastructure projects using CAD software.
  • Assist with engineering design calculations, hydraulic analyses, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates to support project planning and delivery.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and utility verification activities to collect data and confirm existing conditions for design development.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop accurate, complete, and constructible engineering designs.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, technical exhibits, design reports, and supporting calculations in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Support permitting efforts, utility coordination, and construction-phase services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and preparing design revisions as needed.
  • Participate in quality control reviews to help ensure the accuracy and consistency of project deliverables.
  • Support project delivery from initial planning and design through bidding and construction.

What You'll Need:

  • 2 to 6 years of water and wastewater engineering experience with a consulting firm, municipality, or public agency.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred, but not required.
This hybrid position fluctuates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, and copy machines. This job will require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, construction hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements. While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job will require operating a company vehicle, and may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
