It also makes Constellation a natural field-building hub by rapidly inspiring, orienting, and connecting people who are newer to the field.\nBased in Berkeley, CA, our shared workspace hosts over 300 people per week across dozens of AI safety organizations in nonprofits, academia, industry, and government. Hundreds of other researchers spend time at Constellation for shorter visits each year. We believe this is the strongest and highest-output network of AI safety researchers in the world; dozens of participants in past Constellation programs have gone on to safety-focused roles at companies such as METR, Redwood Research, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and the US and UK Safety Institutes.\nAbout the role\nAs the Program Coordinator on the Convening Team, you will play a critical, full-time role focused on measuring and improving our program effectiveness and end-to-end user experience. This position combines rigorous data analysis with hands-on community and event support. You will be responsible for conducting metrics and impact analysis, performing user research to understand community needs, and enhancing the daily experience of our members. You will also work on strategic analysis and assist with planning and running high-stakes events.\nKey responsibilities\nUser Research, User Experience, and Strategic Analysis\nConduct user interviews and quantitative data collection to deeply understand the needs of researchers, their organizations, and what enables their most impactful work.\nConduct metrics and impact analysis to measure program effectiveness. Analyze quantitative data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.\nAnalyze our end-to-end user experience and make recommendations on improvements to make based on your strategic analysis. \nCommunity Experience, Design, and Implementation\nDesign and continuously improve the end-to-end user experience (UX), including onboarding, visitor experience, stocking, slack engagement and design, office utilization and design, and the general social environment.\nProvide strategic problem-solving and rapid response to emerging community needs, using triage frameworks to prioritize interventions by impact and urgency.\nAddress community needs through reactive work as it arises.\nHosting & Membership\nInvestigate and evaluate who to admit as members into our space, including strategic and theory of change analysis.\nEvents & Communications\nAssist with the planning and execution of events, such as elite technical events for frontier AI company employees and educational events for policymakers in DC.\nManage website updates and external communications, including creating content that showcases our programs and ensures our public presence accurately reflects our work and impact.\nThe specific balance of time spent across these responsibility areas will vary based on organizational priorities and program needs. \nAdditional related duties may include supporting other areas of program operations, contributing to program strategy development, and assisting with special projects.\nSkills & experience\nYou might be a good fit if:\nYou have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field\nYou have a strong background in statistical analysis and experience with data-driven decision making\nYou have helped put on high context, large, and professional events\nYou think AI might have transformative effects in the coming years, and are driven to help humanity to safely navigate periods of intense uncertainty and change\nAre a quick learner, capable of understanding complex technical topics and are motivated to learn about a wide array of research agendas across AI Safety\nYou have excellent written and verbal communication skillsHave a strong background in project management and can juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously\nPossess a strong service mindset and enjoy understanding and supporting users and their organizations. \nYou care deeply about our users and their work.\nDemonstrate creativity and agency in problem-solving.\nYou are flexible and up for tackling a wide range of problems.\nYou are comfortable with ambiguity and reactive work in a fast-paced environment\nCompensation & Benefits\nThe base pay range for this role is $105,000 - $133,000 per year.\nOur benefits are hard to beat!
