Our satellite constellation delivers high-resolution land surface temperature data, giving governments, defence organisations, commercial operators and global institutions the intelligence they need to monitor change, assess risk and make better-informed decisions.\nFrom national security and critical infrastructure to agriculture and climate resilience, constellr turns temperature into actionable intelligence for a changing world.\nYour Role\nWe are seeking a highly motivated Satellite Systems Engineer with a strong electrical engineering background to join our spacecraft engineering team. You will oversee, coordinate, and perform system engineering activities on satellite level, as well as electrical subsystem level, ensuring the satellites are successfully realized all the way to launch. You will work closely with the satellite systems team, Product Assurance, Project Management, and the AIT teams, as well as external suppliers, turning mission concepts into robust, flight-ready systems. \nThis is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will get plenty of opportunities to grow your knowledge and skillset. Your work will directly influence the reliability, performance, and long-term success of constellr's mission. \nKey responsibilities\nSystem Engineering Tasks:\nServe as the technical point of contact between engineering, programme management, AIT, and Product Assurance.\n\nServe as coordinator between AIT engineering and PA to ensure proper quality control and monitoring according to PA processes.\n\nSupport project management with schedule planning and adherence, holding regular progress reviews with subcontractors.\n\nCoordinate the definition of requirements and ensure proper flow-down from mission to system and subsystem level, managing verification and close-out.\n\nOversee the satellite system architecture and ensure subsystem interfaces are consistent and compatible.\n\nOversee the work of subcontractors by reviewing and approving submitted designs, verifying compliance with technical requirements, industry regulations, and contractual obligations, and monitoring milestones for timely completion.\n\nCoordinate system-level technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, TRR, etc.\n\nIdentify technical risks across the project, develop mitigation strategies, maintain the risk register alongside project managers, and prepare contingency plans.\n\nPlan and manage verification activities with the AIT teams, ensuring tests are conducted correctly, results are accurately reported, and final documentation is complete, accurate, and appropriately stored.\n\nElectrical Engineering Tasks:\nSupport the definition, design, testing, and verification of the satellite's electrical system architecture, ensuring subsystem interfaces are consistent and compatible.\n\nWork with thermal, structural, and payload engineering to ensure compatibility at the system level.\n\nPerform and support testing at subsystem, FlatSat, and satellite level, including reviewing test procedures, conducting tests, and evaluating test results.\n\nEnsure EMC/EMI compatibility at the subsystem and satellite level.\n\nJob requirements\nAbout you \nRequired: \nBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics or Aerospace Engineering.\n\n4+ years of spacecraft or aerospace industry experience, preferably on large-scale constellation projects.\n\nStrong, demonstrable knowledge of space mission design, spacecraft subsystems and units, and their respective testing and verification activities.\n\nStrong, demonstrable knowledge of requirements management, flow-down, verification, and close-out.\n\nSolid understanding of electrical principles, design, and analysis methodologies, with the ability to work from first principles.\n\nExperience with non-conformance resolution, root-cause analyses, evaluation of requests for waivers and deviations, and risk identification and de-risking activities.\n\nExperience working with ECSS and relevant industry standards for space engineering.\n\nProficiency in English, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.\n\nNice to Have: \nDemonstrable knowledge of design capture (schematics, multilayer board layouts, wiring diagrams) and proficiency with board bring-up and debugging.\n\nGood understanding of analogue and digital electronics, low-voltage high-speed interfaces, and power converters, including design and analysis.\n\nExperience with electrical simulations and analyses, such as worst-case analysis, root-cause analysis, and parts-stress analysis.\n\nExperience with electrical/electronic component selection.\n\nHands-on experience with lab equipment such as multimeters, DSO/MSO, and power supplies.\n\nUnderstanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) in electronics design.\n\nKnowledge of EMI/EMC principles.\n\nWhy join constellr?\nHigh-Impact National Security Mission: Be part of an ambitious mission to launch the world’s first commercial thermal infrared constellation, delivering sovereign-grade \"behavioural\" intelligence from space to close critical blind spots for defence, intelligence, and maritime surveillance agencies.\nFast-Paced \"New Space\" Innovation: Work at the leading edge of a rapidly evolving defence sector.
