Each engineer works directly with developers and product owners to agree on requirements early, and owns their work from start to finish.\nWe use AI throughout our work. Everyone helps build and improve our automated test agents, our end-to-end test suite and our release agent, and we build new tools to make testing and releases faster and more reliable.\nThe QA Engineer responsibilities include:\nOwn quality for your area: Work as an active member of a cross-functional team, focusing your testing on the parts of the product where failures would hurt ConsumerAffairs and its customers most.\nReview requirements early: Read tickets and designs before development starts, and flag ambiguity, missing acceptance criteria and untested edge cases.\nDirect and oversee AI test agents: Set up, run and maintain AI-driven test agents. Review their results critically, and confirm that the tests they produce are reliable and cover the right risks.\nDo exploratory testing: Go beyond scripted tests to find issues that automation and AI miss, including unexpected user behavior.\nInvestigate and report defects: Find whether a failure comes from the application, the test, the data, the environment or an integration. Log clear, reproducible bug reports with evidence and impact, and work with developers until each one is resolved.\nManage test environments and data: Keep staging and QA environments, test accounts and test data ready for reliable testing.\nVerify production releases: Run smoke tests on daily production releases. When the evidence doesn’t support confidence, raise the risk.\nLearn the whole system: Over time, build an end-to-end understanding of how ConsumerAffairs systems, services and integrations work and connect.\nImprove how we test: Contribute to QA processes, standards and tooling. Turn production issues and lessons learned into better test coverage.\nRequirements\nQualifications & Credentials\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. (Preferred)\nExperience creating and managing the testing process with AI tools being the primary interface\nQuality Engineering mind set. AI can execute thousands of tests. A great QE member of our product team will be able to decide whether they are the right tests-and discover what AI did not plan to test. \nTechnical Skills\nAI agents for QA: You have built and maintained AI agents and prompts that write, run or maintain automated tests, and you check their output critically instead of trusting it.\nGit and code review: You’re comfortable with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, code reviews and resolving merge conflicts.\nTest automation in code: You can build and maintain automated UI and API tests with a modern framework (we currently use Playwright).\nAPI, data and debugging skills: You can test REST APIs, write SQL queries to check data, and use browser DevTools and logs to find out whether a failure comes from the app, the test, the data or the environment.\nCI/CD and test environments: You’ve run tests in CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and you’ve worked with staging or QA environments, test data setup and Docker.\nSoft Skills\nEagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and testing practices.\nAbility to manage context shifts throughout the days work\nStrong analytical skills and attention to detail.\nSense of ownership of the experience we provide to internal and external customers.\nStands up for decisions, takes responsibility for results, and shares both good and bad outcomes transparently.\nFocused on results for the team/company\nBenefits\nWhy You’ll Love Working Here\nAt ConsumerAffairs, your voice matters.
