You'll join our first in-house video pod in Tulsa, working alongside a video lead and a video producer.\nYou'll turn research, expert calls and hands-on product tests into scripts and shot-by-shot storyboards before anyone films. That includes paid ads, organic social content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Reddit, and short lifecycle videos for email, retargeting and onsite. A locked script and storyboard make the shoot faster, cut down on reshoots, and give our editors a clear target. Ideas and scripting are the most valuable skills on this team, so you'll spend most of your time pitching, writing and sharpening. You'll also write companion articles that turn the same research into written content.\nThe pod also needs an on-camera face for the category. Could that be you?\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nPitch new video ideas every week, with a clear hook and format for each\nTurn research, consumer reviews, expert calls and hands-on product tests into tight scripts for organic, paid and lifecycle videos\nWrite multiple ad variants (hooks, lengths, calls to action) for paid testing\nScript short lifecycle videos for email, retargeting and onsite journeys\nBuild shot-by-shot storyboards so the shoot runs fast and the editors know exactly what to deliver\nWrite strong hooks for the first few seconds of every video\nAdapt one idea into multiple lengths and formats across organic, paid and lifecycle\nWrite companion articles based on the same research\nJoin shoots to make sure the script works on camera, and adjust on the fly\nFact-check claims and keep scripts in line with ConsumerAffairs editorial standards\nStudy performance data (retention graphs, click-through, comments, shares) and use it to make the next script better\nRequirements\nMinimum Qualifications & Credentials\n1-3 years of experience in writing, content or video\nA portfolio of scripts, videos or writing, including things you've made on your own outside of class or work\nCan explain how the YouTube, TikTok and Instagram algorithms work and why hooks and retention matter\nUnderstands the difference between content that earns views and content that drives a click or sign-up\nA clear, conversational writer who can write for the ear, not just the page\nComfortable doing research and interviewing experts\nAble to sketch out a storyboard using whatever tool works (paper, Canva, Figma, Frame.io, etc.)\nAI native: uses AI tools to research, outline and draft faster\nCurious, proactive and excited to try new formats and strategies\nNice to Have\nWants to be on camera and could serve as the category's on-camera host\nExperience writing ad creative or UGC-style ad scripts\nBackground in journalism, communications, broadcast, film or digital media\nBasic video editing skills\nInterest in consumer products, reviews or personal finance\nBenefits\nWhy You’ll Love Working Here\nAt ConsumerAffairs, your voice matters.
