Contracted 21 hours per week As we work 100:80:100 this equates to working 16.8 hours per week.\nSTATUS: Permanent\nOVERVIEW OF THE ROLE\nThe Building Technician will perform a variety of maintenance, modification and repair activities to the plant, fabric and fittings of the premises in a safe and efficient manner, as well as assisting in the preparation for specific events and the day-to-day running of the building. Providing cover for the Building & Operations Manager in his absence will occasionally be required which includes some basic tasks attributed to the day-time Duty Manager role.\nMAIN TASKS\nAssist the Building & Operations Manager with all tasks as required to ensure the efficient running of the building and its services.\nVarious maintenance activities around the building, including basic joinery, plumbing, and decorating.\nChanging of light fittings and lamps.\nOccasional support of Duty Managers in preparation of main spaces and rooms, for a variety of meetings, workshops and events.\nUndertaking light office equipment/furniture movement within the building and other light porter duties.\nIn consultation with the Building & Operations Manager, to accurately estimate labour and materials needs for specific projects, including ordering and collection of materials when required.\nKeep accurate records of time spent and activities completed on a daily basis.\nSome external house-keeping duties, such as: tidying of bin area, sweeping and washing decking and occasional litter picking.\nCarrying out routine maintenance on the Contact vehicle.\nCarry out or supervise water quality testing in accordance with the Legionella Risk Assessment.\nContribute to the assessment of Capital proposals in relation to their impact and the viability of existing legacy systems.\nGENERAL\nTo attend departmental, company and operational meetings as required.\n\nTo represent Contact to external bodies and organisations as required.\n\nAdherence to Contact’s Health and Safety policy, undertaking such duties as are required and ensuring that reasonable care is taken to ensure a healthy and safe working and public environment.\n\nAdherence to and commitment to Contact’s Equal Opportunities policy.\n\nTo interact directly with young people through apprenticeships and work placements as a way of contributing to their development.\n\nTo contribute where appropriate to the training and development of Contact staff.\n\nUndertake any other duties that may be reasonably required in connection with the position.\n\nManage, control and report on all budgets relating to your team/area, delegating budgetary authority where appropriate.\n\nTo advise and report regularly on activity as required by the wider Senior Management Team, Board and sub-boards, supplying any data required to meet funder reporting requirements.\n\nTo provide mentoring and support to young people and on occasions deliver training/workshops in areas relevant to your job role.\n\nIn line with Contact’s governance model, pro-actively engage young people in decision-making through consultations, young people’s panels and other mechanisms relevant to your job role.\n\nTo manage all personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulations, using the Spektrix database as directed.\n\nPERSON SPECIFICATION\nESSENTIAL\nPractical experience in carrying out building maintenance work.\n\nExperience of working in a maintenance environment.\n\nAbility to work on own initiative and unsupervised.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.\n\nAbility to apply attention to detail when carrying out maintenance.\n\nExcellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritize working activities.\n\nUnderstanding of the importance of good customer service within the arts industry.\n\nClear understanding of Health and Safety legislation in relation to maintenance activities within a commercial/industrial premises.\n\nClean current driving license.\n\nEnthusiasm for working in a creative organisation\n\nEnthusiasm for and commitment to Equal Opportunities practice\n\nEnthusiasm and commitment for working in an environment focused on young people (aged 13 -
