We're looking for someone who wants to inspire people to take action on issues that matter.\nContext Creative is part of Mod Op, a full-service advertising agency with offices in 11 U.S. locations as well as Panama City, Panama, Calgary Alberta , Canada and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.\nA little about the role\nWe’re looking for a Finance Manager who loves when things balance, deadlines are met, and everyone has the information they need.\nYou’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day finance operations in Toronto, owning client billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable, reconciliations, cash flow reporting, and month-end activities. You’ll work closely with our Client Partnership, Operations, and Project Management teams to make sure projects and billing stay accurate and on track.\nThis is a hands-on role. You’ll definitely spend time in spreadsheets and accounting systems, but you’ll also spend a lot of time working with people across the business to solve problems, update procedures, answer questions, and keep things moving.\nWhat does success look like?Client invoices go out accurately and on time, reconciliations tie out, month-end deadlines are met, reporting is reliable, cash comes in and there are very few finance-related surprises.\nYou’ll report to the Head of Finance making this a great role for someone who likes owning their work while also helping others succeed.\nThis Role Reports to:\nHead of Finance\nCompensation Range:\n80,000-90,000 CAD\nWhat you’ll be doing\nBilling, revenue & client finance\nOwn monthly client billing, revenue recognition and accounts receivables.\nReconcile and track prebills and accrued revenue\nPartner with the Client Partnership team to make sure billing is accurate and moves quickly through approval processes.\nFollow up directly with client finance/AP teams when needed.\nMonitor revenue forecast and reconcile forecasts to actual client billing.\nKeep client finance information such as billing details, POs and contact information accurate and up to date.\nInvestigate billing discrepancies and help get them sorted out.\nMonth-end, accounting & cash flow\nManage accounts payable and make sure vendors are paid accurately and on time.\nComplete monthly accounting responsibilities and help keep our close on schedule.\nPrepare and distribute weekly cash flow reporting, including a rolling view of expected cash coming in and going out.\nReview bank and credit card activity, monitor balances, and reconcile the bank weekly\nPrepare and submit HST filings and corporate tax instalments, including arranging HST payments.\nFile the Employer Health Tax (EHT) return.\nReview payroll reports and benefits invoices to post necessary journal entries. \nReview employee expenses, receipts and approvals, code expenses appropriately, and arrange reimbursements.\nMaintain organized financial records and documentation. \nProjects & Process\nHelp make sure the financial side of our projects reflects what is actually happening in the business.\nProvide internal finance process onboarding and training for new employees involved in billing.\nLook at process improvement and change as a rewarding challenge and are willing to work with others to smooth out friction points along the way. \nPeople, year-end & everything in between\nSupport the Billing Coordinator as needed, including reviewing sales orders, and providing support when processes change and new initiatives are rolling out.\nHelp with year-end close by preparing schedules, documentation, and supporting information for internal and external requests.\nAssist with year-end audit requests.\nJump in on ad hoc financial requests and projects as they come up.\nWhat you’ll bring\nWe’re less interested in someone who checks every single box and more interested in someone who knows their stuff, takes ownership, and genuinely enjoys making finance processes work well for everyone it touches.\nIdeally, you’ll have:\nPost-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.\nAround 7-9 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including hands-on client billing and reconciliations in a project or media focused environment.\nExperience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP accounting system.\nExperience working with time-tracking and project management systems.\nStrong Excel/Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills.\nA serious appreciation for accuracy and details. You’re the person who notices when something doesn’t quite add up and is willing to figure out why.\nStrong organization and time-management skills, particularly when several month-end deadlines arrive at once.\nThe ability to communicate finance information clearly to people who don’t live and breathe finance.\nA collaborative approach.
