The Database Administrator is proficient in Linux platform and IRIS servers. The Database Administrator’s responsibilities include: monitoring database server performance and troubleshooting issues; applying hot fixes, security updates, and service packs; maintaining database backups and verifying restores; managing security; managing and maintaining the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs; creating and maintaining database objects; testing failover procedures for high availability; engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources; and following Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration. Forms productive relationships with customers by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively. Participates on project teams as a key contributor. Responsible for relationship with Epic and opening and coordinating issues with Epic. Responsible for writing fundamental documentation in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards. Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day x 7 days per week.\nQualification:\nBachelor’s Degree and 2 years Epic direct experience is required or Associate’s Degree and 4 years of direct Epic experience is required.\nMinimum of 6 years of experience in information technology and High School Diploma or equivalent required.\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in a Health Care environment preferred.\nBA/BS Degree in IS or Business preferred.\nLicensure, Registration, and/or Certification\nCurrent Epic ODBA Certification or certification gained within 6 months of employment is required. \nTechnical Skills:\nUNIX, Linux Administration\nDatabase management and administration\nIntersystems IRIS platform management and administration\nSystem Pulse\nSystem Performance Analytics\nCapacity Management\nScripting/Programming\nSystem Patching and Security Remediation\nProblem Troubleshooting and Remediation\nAbout Us:\nCook Children’s is an equal opportunity employer.
