We’re all about bright futures - for our people and those who wear our contact lenses.\nJob summary - What to expect:\nTo perform a range of varied tasks to ensure customer requirements, production performance targets and quality standards are met and when possible exceeded. Provide leadership, motivation and direction of Operators, and deputise for Team Leader in their absence.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLead, motivate and support a team to achieve customer requirements, performance targets and quality standards.\n\nOperate equipment and carry out production tasks in line with SOPs and work instructions to meet targets and quality requirements.\n\nMaintain departmental service levels and ensure compliance with company procedures and standards.\n\nAllocate resources and prioritise workloads to achieve shift objectives, meet deadlines and satisfy customer demand.\n\nAnalyse data and produce reports to ensure SOX and financial compliance.\n\nResolve basic machinery faults and perform minor maintenance where required.\n\nManage the picking and shipping of orders for internal and external customers.\n\nAdhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring safe equipment use and high housekeeping standards.\n\nDeliver training and support the development of team members in line with SOPs.\n\nProvide operational feedback and support to the Team Leader.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives through data collection and analysis.\n\nEnsure workstations are operational, clean and organised to minimise downtime.\n\nInvestigate and resolve operational issues, escalating where necessary to maintain service levels.\n\nSupport investigations, customer enquiries and cross-departmental requests.\n\nDeputise for the Team Leader when required, maintaining service levels and communicating issues appropriately.\n\nParticipate in internal and external audits to ensure ISO/FDA compliance.\n\nPromote a positive team culture built on trust, fairness and respect.\n\nDeliver team briefings and provide cover for the Team Leader at meetings as required.\n\nSupport other operational areas when business needs require.\n\nA full job description is available upon request.\nExperience & Education:\nStrong interpersonal, leadership, and team management skills.\n\nSelf-motivated, able to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision.\n\nEffective workload planning, prioritisation, and multitasking skills.\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.\n\nGood knowledge of operational equipment and in-house systems (e.g. Oracle).\n\nExperience contributing to weekly/monthly management reports and company projects.\n\nGood understanding of HR procedures.\n\nStrong attention to detail and communication skills, including delivering team briefings.\n\nAble to communicate effectively with colleagues, departments, and internal/external customers.\n\nProvides regular feedback on workload, equipment, and material issues.\n\nMulti-skilled across operational processes, supporting training in line with SOPs.\n\nIdentifies process waste, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports change implementation.\n\nExperienced in using manual handling equipment (e.g. order pickers, pallet movers).\n\nOperational, machinery, or manufacturing experience preferred.\n\nUnderstanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement, and Health & Safety practices.\n\nGood standard of English and Maths.\n\nWhat we offer:\nYou will receive competitive compensation and a fantastic benefits package including 25 days holiday, pension scheme, healthcare cover, life assurance, access to our Wellness Platform to support you in mental health and wellbeing, a discounted contact lens scheme and much more!\nWe are committed to our employees’ personal and professional development and offer extensive training to support your career growth and help every individual to reach their full potential.
