Learn more at www.coopersurgical.com.\n Job Summary:\nThe Health & Safety Specialist supports the implementation and day-to-day management of Health & Safety systems within UK manufacturing and operational sites. Working closely with site leadership and the wider EHS team, the role helps ensure compliance with UK legislation, promotes safe working practices, and supports the development of a positive safety culture.\nOnsite: Falmouth, Cornwall UK\nHealth & Safety Compliance & Support\nSupport the implementation of company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programmes at site level.\nAssist in ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and internal standards.\nHelp maintain site risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.\nProvide practical Health & Safety advice to managers, supervisors, and employees.\nOperational Safety Activities\nConduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety tours, reporting findings and tracking corrective actions.\nSupport risk management activities covering: Machinery and equipment safety\nCOSHH and safe handling of substances\nPPE and safety signage\nManual handling and ergonomics\nContractor and visitor safety\nTraffic management and general workplace safety\n\nAssist operational teams in identifying hazards and implementing suitable controls.\nIncident & Performance Management\nSupport the reporting, investigation, and recording of accidents, incidents, and near misses.\nAssist with root cause analysis and follow-up of corrective actions.\nHelp compile Health & Safety performance data and reports for site review.\nTraining & Engagement\nSupport delivery and coordination of Health & Safety training and inductions.\nAssist in maintaining training records and competency matrices.\nPromote employee engagement in Health & Safety activities and initiatives.\nSupport behavioural safety and safety awareness programmes.\nEmergency Preparedness\nAssist with emergency planning arrangements, including fire safety and first aid.\nSupport evacuation drills and emergency response exercises.\nHelp ensure emergency equipment and facilities \n Essential\nNEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or working towards a recognised Health & Safety qualification.\n1-3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.\nBasic to intermediate knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.\nCompetent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.\nWillingness to spend time on the shop floor and engage with operational teams.\n\nDesirable\nPrevious experience in a regulated or medical device environment.\nExperience supporting audits and incident investigations.\nSkills & Attributes\nClear communication and good interpersonal skills.\nPractical, hands-on approach to Health & Safety.\nOrganised with good attention to detail.\nAbility to work collaboratively across departments.\nKeen to learn and develop professionally within an EHS career path.\nWork Environment\nCombination of office-based work and time spent on the manufacturing/shop floor.\nOccasional lifting up to 20kg, in line with risk assessments and safe lifting practices.\nAs an employee of CooperSurgical, you'll receive a competitive total compensation plan. The good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is 30.000 to 35.000 Punds annually.
