You will execute against the global engineering function’s strategy, responsible for understanding all aspects of firing systems within the company including but not limited to: equipment installation and commissioning, materials of construction, equipment suppliers, services, controls, troubleshooting, and safety concerns. You will be the key receiver of new developments and new firing processes from R&D to manufacturing. Accountable for producing yield improvements, executing technology transfers and increasing the efficiency of existing capital equipment in their SME area on a global scale.Role & Responsibilities:\nResponsible for problem solving activities for complex issues that involve the firing process and associated equipment.\nKey interface with manufacturers that supply firing equipment to the company from specification setting through implementation into manufacturing.\nAct as internal consultant providing technical guidance on projects. \nUtilize experience and a strong understanding of ceramic, manufacturing techniques and associated equipment design/function to improve current or develop new manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements.\nExecute technology transfers to meet production requirements.\nManage projects including training and guiding plant engineering and manufacturing team members.\nImprove efficiencies by collaborating with manufacturing leadership, coordinating with maintenance / repair services and cross functional engineering teams to establish effective processes and procedures delivering results.\nResponsible for process improvements that deliver yield improvements.\nContribute to our commitment to environmental sustainability by executing initiatives that align with our dedication to reducing environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing innovative solutions for a cleaner and healthier future.\nIncrease process efficiency by implementing/applying Lean, TOC, Six Sigma or other TQM process improvement methodologies.\nResponsible for the creation of business plans to support global process engineering initiatives and projects.\nResponsible to stay connected to the firing industry through industry publications and conferences; transfers knowledge of technology trends and methodologies to key personnel across the company.\nPerform detailed analysis for executive review able to effectively communicate up and down.\nMust maintain high safety requirements including meeting local consensus safety standards.\nJob Requirements:\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering or related engineering discipline.\nLean Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus.\nProject Management certification a plus.\nExperience:\nMinimum of 5 years of Engineering experience (preferably process engineering) and thermal processing of materials.\nTechnical & Functional Skills:\nExperience in high temperature firing of ceramics.\nExperience with Vacuum furnaces a plus.\nExperience performing mass and heat balance calculations.\nKnowledge of refractory materials and refractory insulation systems.\nKnowledge of ceramic material properties, and methods of material analysis.\nExperience commissioning equipment for large capital projects.\nDiverse technical background experience required, including knowledge of mechanical, electrical and materials engineering.\nExperience in air pollution control and mitigation systems a plus.\nSkilled in implementing/applying Lean, TOC, Six Sigma or other TQM process improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment. \nExperience in an automated engineering environment.\nSoftware knowledge: MS Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and MasterCAM.\nMust be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.\nJob Specific Requirements:\n Travel: Ability to travel regularly 20-35% and at times up to 50% (domestic and international).\n Location: Desired locations for this role: Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Hillsboro, Oregon or Golden, Colorado.\nCompensation: The range listed is for the Golden, CO area and may vary by region. \n Target Hiring Range\nAnnual Salary: USD 103,040.00 - USD 136,013.00Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
