As a Lead Electrical Engineer on our Oil Free Centrifugal team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting the electrical component, hardware development and additionally work with the lab team providing support and training. Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will be a team member on the Oil-Free Centrifugal team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, process-oriented person.\nAs a Centrifugal Electrical Engineer, you will:\nWork closely with the Controls Engineering team to learn and understand the control method and develop the process for validating electrical hardware.\n\nFollow the requirements of Copeland Business System\n\nWork together to optimize the design, program logic, testing methods of the controller, control program, VFD, motor, cabling, transformer and supervisory control system.\n\nExplore the opportunity for ancillary equipment (remote data communication and storage, control program updates, 120V power supply transformer, HVAC, Hydraulic Control Center (HCC), etc.)\n\nOwn and optimize the design, performance and durability of the electrical systems\n\nWork with the design team to maintain BOM and electrical drawing packages for OFC, Compressors’ electrical components & systems\n\nReview and evaluate existing system against customer requirements\n\nSupport the team in development efforts for new products or improvements to existing products\n\nWork with experts to validate the electrical system design for present and future products\n\nInterpret and draw conclusions from test data obtained during validation activities\n\nTrain and support production and field teams on product assembly and connection processes\n\nDocument electrical system configuration and user guides and procedures\n\nDevelop and document test set ups and procedures\n\nWork with supplier to optimize power electronics and motor designs\n\nDevelop and champion electrical safety best practices for the company\n\nLead troubleshooting efforts on OFC compressor controller, drive and motor\n\nField service support may be required on occasion\n\nConduct RCCMs (Root Cause Failure Analysis) of failed OFC units\n\nConduct electrical system modeling for unique deployment configurations\n\n“I Own Safety” leader and facilitator, process changes/implementation and participate/initiate continuous improvement processes\n\nREQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:\nBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\n\nA minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial environment minimum of 3 years in power electronics integration, motion control, turbomachinery or similar\n\nDemonstrated success in hands-on setup, operation and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems\n\nAbility to use and set up test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, data loggers/analyzers, software development tools, etc.\n\nFamiliarity with the safety requirements for high power applications\n\nUnderstanding of digital, analog and power electronics components and operation\n\nStrong oral and written communication skills\n\nGood interpersonal, project management, presentation, and teamwork skills\n\nAbility to run multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment\n\nUnderstanding of lean manufacturing principles\n\nProficient in use of Microsoft Office programs\n\nAbility to travel up to 10-15% of the time including some international travel\n\nLegal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role\n\nPREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:\nMinimum of 3 years in power electronics integration, motion control, turbomachinery or similar highly preferred\n\nPower electronics troubleshooting experience is preferred\n\nHands-on familiarity with industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus and signal level instrumentation, is preferred\n\nExperience in the design of digital, analog and power electronic circuits is a plus\n\nFamiliarity with motor controls is a plus\n\nFamiliarity with the agency approval process (UL, CE, etc.) is a plus\n\nOur Commitment to Our People\nAcross the globe, we are united by a singular Purpose: Sustainability is no small ambition.
