To support this, we need robust backend APIs and infrastructure that can scale efficiently across platforms.\nWe’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to play a key role in designing and developing these backend systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to scope, build, and optimize APIs and services that power Copilot across all platforms.\nThis is a hybrid position based in Santiago, Chile, you’ll be required to come into our office at least 2 times a week along with the rest of the team. We work from home the rest of the week, but the office is always available in case you want to make use of it more often.\nYour Responsibilities\nDesign, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support iOS, macOS, Android, and Web applications.\n\nContribute to architecture and infrastructure discussions, recommending improvements to ensure scalability, security, and performance.\n\nCollaborate with Product and Client teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.\n\nParticipate in code reviews, ensuring best practices and high-quality standards.\n\nContribute to ongoing improvements in developer experience and system reliability.\n\nSupport the team in technical decision-making and mentor junior engineers as needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience working on backend services.\n\nStrong proficiency in Node.js / JavaScript (TypeScript a plus)\n\nExperience with Google Cloud Platform\n\nHands-on experience with API design and architecture for mobile and web applications.\n\nEnglish proficiency - all meetings and internal communications are conducted in English.\n\nTeam player who can manage time independently.\n\nBased in Santiago, Chile\n\nDesired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.\n\nExperience with Firebase / Firestore, CI/CD systems, and monitoring tools.\n\nFamiliarity with performance optimization, scalability, and alerting infrastructure.\n\nPrior exposure to mentoring or supporting peers in a collaborative engineering environment.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nMonthly salary of CLP $3.300.000 - $3.800.000 (líquido).\n\nEquity in the company (Stock options).\n\nHome Office Setup.\n\nComplementary health insurance.\n\nRemote work allowance (CLP $50.000/month).\n\nWellness allowance (CLP $85.000/month).\n\nWe cover sick days that your health insurance doesn’t pay (usually the first 3 days of a medical leave).\n\nAfter 2 years in the company you get 5 extra vacation days, and 5 more after 4 years.\n\nExtra free day for your birthday (you can take it any day of the month).\n\n4 administrative days per year (non-accumulable).\n\nAnnual company retreats.\n\nWhy should you work with us?\nA product people love: Copilot users are extremely engaged with the app and are sharing it with their friends and family.\nA team that cares: We’re a bunch of geeks who care about data quality and good coffee.
