You will collaborate closely with in-house engineers and Analogic’s wider cross-functional teams to ensure equipment designs meet quality, efficiency and safety standards. Given the seasonal nature of automotive work, you will also work with the Technical Applications team to develop your Applications Engineer skills, with opportunities to work across all sectors Analogic serves.\nRoles & Responsibilities\nTeam Working/Leading\nLead collaborative, innovative design of industrial handling equipment, including conveyors, robotic cells, AGV systems, storage systems and other specialist manufacturing equipment.\nLead in-house engineers in the UK and India and/or subcontract personnel throughout the design process.\nAgree project schedules and priorities with the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\nDelegate tasks to the Engineering Project team.\nSupport regular reviews and management of technical project progress.\nPrepare regular progress reports as required by the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\nCollaborate with Engineering Department team leaders and members to share knowledge and apply best practice.\nHelp the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead schedule projects and resources as required.\nCompile information for operation and maintenance manuals.\nPrepare and send transmittal documents to other departments through the internal transmittal system.\nProvide support and leadership outside normal working hours as required.\nLead and engage with remote teams in the UK and worldwide.\nEnsure strict adherence to the ‘no fault forward’ philosophy for engineering outputs.\nTechnical\nPrepare scheme drawings and layouts for assessment against customer specifications.\nCreate 3D models.\nPrepare detailed mechanical drawings for manufacture.\nAssess basic designs using power and stress calculations, considering cost-effectiveness and ease of manufacture and maintenance.\nConduct stress analysis (FEA), design risk assessments (DRA) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).\nAlways follow Company procedures and specific instructions.\nExperience designing pneumatics systems.\nTime Management\nDeliver work within the hours and deadlines agreed with the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\nHighlight all constraints or issues that may affect engineering deadlines and project schedules.\nCommunication\nIdentify and immediately report engineering constraints or issues to the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\nAttend regular project and design reviews, providing the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead and projects team with accurate schedule and work completion updates.\nFlag any additional support needed to complete work accurately and on time.\nComplete CCARs according to Company procedures whenever timing plans or engineering hours are affected.\nCross Functional Working\nContinually strengthen relationships with internal stakeholders to support successful project completion.\nSupport the development of engineering schemes and specifications for sales quotations and bid returns.\nProvide engineering support as needed during manufacture and installation.\nConduct surveys at customer sites and attend customer-led meetings as required.\nSupport all departments and the wider Company as required to deliver projects successfully.\nWork Location\nBased in the UK, working out of the Wickford office.\nHealth & Safety\nAlways comply with Group and Company policies and procedures.\nUse all Company equipment and personal PPE correctly, following Company procedures.\nReport all health and safety issues and concerns promptly and professionally to your line manager and/or a Health and Safety Representative.\nEquality\nFamiliarise oneself with, and adhere to the Company’s Equality Policy at all times.\nCompany Values\nAll employees must conduct themselves in accordance with our Corporate Company Values and Business Ethics at all times.\nFlexibility\nYou may need to work from our UK sites for several weeks at a time.\nAnalogic operates globally, so UK and international travel will be required.\nWork overtime as needed to meet deadlines.\nRequirements\nSkills & Attributes\nHighly Organised & self-motivated.\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\nSound understanding of MS Office packages.\nProficient in Solidworks / AutoCAD / Inventor.\nTeam player.\nGood technical literacy skills.\nAdaptable & flexible.\nExperience\nProven experience in Automotive Tooling or Mechanical Handling.\nManufacturing Automation methods and processes.\nValue for money and current market value .\nSupplier base knowledge .\nUnderstanding of project costs -
