The role includes budget formulation and execution, cost tracking, expenditure monitoring, financial reporting, and support for financial systems and process improvements.\nResponsibilities\nTrack costs and support budget formulation, execution, analysis, and monitoring for commitments, obligations, expenditures, and reimbursable accounts.\n\nReview expenditures and monitor budget status to develop detailed budget reports.\n\nPrepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including institute and center leadership, principal investigators, and gift fund sources.\n\nDevelop spreadsheets to evaluate spending patterns, balances, and projections using advanced Microsoft Excel features, including macros, formulas, and PivotTables.\n\nCreate, update, edit, and track interagency agreements.\n\nCollaborate with the information technology group to develop, expand, and maintain internal financial systems for cost and funds tracking.\n\nIdentify financial processes and workflows that could benefit from automation.\n\nResolve complex financial inquiries, including account changes and prior-year funding requests.\n\nCoordinate with the NIAID Budget Office on budget allocations, year-end close, and spending projections.\n\nSafeguard files containing confidential or sensitive financial information.\n\nPerform additional budget and financial support duties within the scope of the role.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree.\n\nTwo to five years of experience in budget formulation.\n\nAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including macros, formulas, and PivotTables.\n\nStrong analytical and financial reporting skills.\n\nAbility to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.\n\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\n\nDeliverables\nPrepare a Monthly Budget Status Report by the fifth business day following the reporting period, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.\n\nDisclaimer: The above description is meant to illustrate the general nature of work and level of effort being performed by individuals assigned to this position or job description.
