This is a hands-on role responsible for reviewing payroll execution, resolving complex payroll issues, strengthening controls and business continuity, and serving as a key payroll subject-matter expert. The Payroll Supervisor should understand not only how payroll is processed, but also the financial, compliance, and employee implications of payroll decisions.\nWHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nExperienced payroll professional with strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, payroll taxes, wage and hour requirements, and payroll compliance\n\nHands-on leader who can oversee payroll operations while remaining comfortable processing payroll directly when needed\n\nStrong reviewer who can identify discrepancies, evaluate downstream impacts, and ensure issues are fully resolved\n\nProcess-minded professional who values controls, documentation, consistency, and business continuity\n\nAnalytical problem solver who can navigate complex payroll, tax, and jurisdictional issues\n\nCollaborative partner who works effectively across Operations, HR, Finance, and Compliance\n\nTrusted professional who exercises sound judgment and discretion with sensitive employee and payroll information\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nOversee and review payroll processing across multiple states and legal entities, ensuring accurate and timely execution in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations\n\nProvide day-to-day direction, review, and support to payroll team members, including workload coordination, training, and issue resolution\n\nReview payroll inputs, employee changes, earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, retirement contributions, and other payroll transactions prior to processing\n\nProcess payroll directly as needed to provide backup coverage and ensure business continuity\n\nInvestigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, tax issues, jurisdictional questions, system exceptions, and employee escalations\n\nMaintain strong payroll controls, including documented review procedures, approval requirements, processing calendars, checklists, and segregation of duties\n\nPartner with Finance on payroll reconciliations, payroll liabilities, funding, general ledger accuracy, and payroll-related financial reporting\n\nCoordinate payroll tax and multi-state compliance matters, including tax notices, jurisdictional changes, and resolution of complex tax issues\n\nMaintain the integrity of payroll-related employee and pay data and coordinate resolution of discrepancies across payroll and HR systems\n\nOwn payroll-specific system requirements, testing, data validation, reporting, and process improvements in partnership with HR and Compliance\n\nCoordinate retirement-plan payroll administration, including deductions, remittances, reconciliations, audits, corrections, and data requests\n\nOversee payroll execution related to compensation changes, bonuses, leaves, benefits, employee status changes, garnishments, and other statutory deductions\n\nOversee timekeeping inputs as they relate to payroll accuracy, exceptions, and reconciliation\n\nSupport year-end payroll processes, required filings, audits, and remediation of findings\n\nDevelop and maintain payroll SOPs, calendars, controls, documentation, cross-training, and business continuity procedures\n\nSupport payroll integration associated with acquisitions, new entities, and employee transfers\n\nPrepare and review workforce and payroll reporting, including trends, exceptions, and variances\n\nIdentify opportunities to automate, simplify, and strengthen payroll processes while reducing operational and compliance risk\n\nParticipate in future payroll and HRIS system evaluation, implementation, testing, and transition activities\n\nEnsure appropriate backup coverage exists for critical payroll responsibilities\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state environment; multi-entity experience strongly preferred\n\nDemonstrated experience independently administering and reviewing end-to-end payroll\n\nStrong experience with ADP Workforce Now\n\nStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, wage and hour rules, and payroll compliance\n\nExperience with payroll reconciliations, payroll accounting, tax matters, retirement deductions, benefits deductions, garnishments, and complex payroll exceptions\n\nExperience reviewing the work of others, providing payroll guidance, training team members, or coordinating payroll operations\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail\n\nStrong process orientation with experience developing or improving payroll controls, procedures, and documentation\n\nHigh level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach\n\nAbility to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment\n\nLOCATION:\nWe are open to a candidate located in the Denver, CO area\n\nOUR COMMITMENT TO CULTURE:\nAt Miles Partnership, we are driven by our commitment to actively evolve inclusive marketing industry practices, drive innovation within the company and empower our team, our clients and the communities we serve.
