In this role, approximately 50% of your time will be dedicated to managing Corbion’s commodity market exposure, and 50% will focus on sourcing assigned categories of raw materials.\nYou will be responsible for the exploration, development, and execution of category strategies, while partnering with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams. This role is accountable for commodity risk mitigation, cost savings initiatives, and delivering against individual, departmental, and company annual targets. You will also proactively communicate risks, opportunities, and market insights to leadership. You will report to the Senior Director of Procurement - Direct Materials, based in Lenexa, Kansas. This position is based in Lenexa, KS and allows for a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office.\nKey Responsibilities\nCommodity Market Intelligence & Risk Management (50%)\nMonitor and analyze relevant commodity markets (e.g., wheat, corn, oils, cocoa), with a focus on North America\nServe as the internal subject matter expert on commodity market movements\nTranslate market trends into actionable procurement strategies\nDefine and execute hedging strategies\nIdentify and mitigate supply and price risks (short-, medium-, and long-term)\nAdvise stakeholders on timing of purchases, contract structures, and risk exposure\nEducate internal stakeholders on market developments and business implications\nCategory Management (50%)\nUnderstand market dynamics within assigned categories and the impact of price volatility on business performance\nDevelop, recommend, and execute procurement strategies informed by commodity market trends\nOptimize sourcing decisions based on total cost and market timing\nPartner with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Operations, C&D, Marketing, Pricing) to provide market insights\nMaintain contracts and commitments to ensure visibility into financial exposure\nIdentify and implement cost savings opportunities across the supply chain\nManage annual budgets and provide monthly updates for assigned categories\nRequired Education & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Food Industry, or a related field\n5+ years of experience in food procurement or supply chain\nStrong understanding of commodity markets and supply/demand fundamentals\nFinancial acumen with the ability to link market events to business outcomes\nExcellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex strategies clearly\nProven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment\nDemonstrated success in managing projects to completion\nKnowledge of contract management and resolution processes\nProficiency in Source-to-Pay systems (e.g., SAP, KYOS) and advanced Microsoft Office skills\nAbility to travel up to 10%\nAbout Corbion\nCorbion is a sustainable ingredients company dedicated to preserving what matters, including food and food production, health, and the planet.
