Individuals must be able to manage multiple tasks, exhibit strong organizational skills, and have a basic understanding of design and construction.\nResponsibilities\nProvides technical and engineering support to the Construction Manager\nCoordinates with District staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants and other construction support staff\nParticipates in, and occasionally runs, design or construction meetings\nMakes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration, addition, or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established district standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements\nReads and interprets construction plans and shop drawings\nAssists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines\nSupports development of weekly/monthly status and photo reports for project team\nReviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field orders\nReviews and enforces construction and professional services contracts\nManages and directs contractors and outside consultants, including reviewing and approving invoices\nFacilitates resolutions of construction and design issues\nReviews and confirms accuracy of requests for information from the contractor prior to submission to the Architect of Record\nCoordinates with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.\nGenerates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc.)\nConfirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor\nMaintains project files and logs in both electronic and paper format\nReviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications\nAssist in obtaining and reviewing cost estimates and schedule updates during each design phase and through the bidding phase\nAssist in the bid solicitation and General Contractor outreach program\nAssist the Construction Manager with the quality control program to ensure all work is correct and documented\nPerform daily site photograph and written documentation of work performed\nPrepare and distribute monthly project status reports\nAssist with the coordination of special inspections and testing laboratories\nCoordinate and facilitate the closeout and commissioning phase of the project\nDevelop the punchlist and verify successful completion and acceptance of each item\nRequest and obtain all required warranties from the contractor, arrange and submit to the District\nOther job-related duties or projects as assigned\nQualifications\n1-3 years minimum recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction\nBS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related degree. Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to take initiative and make sound decisions.\nKnowledge of construction management procedures\nKnowledge of contract documents\nKnowledge of industry practices\nProficiency in Microsoft Office\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nStrong competency in construction management software ie.
