Visit coreandmain.com to learn more.\nPosition Summary\nThe District Operations Manager (ROM) is a key operational leader responsible for scaling capacity, driving consistency, and strengthening operational discipline across all branches within the region. This role enhances the effectiveness of the Regional Director (RD) and District Managers (DMs) by owning critical operational processes, improving inventory integrity, and ensuring field execution of corporate initiatives. The DOM ensures every branch operates with excellence, adheres to SOPs, and maintains strong operational health - enabling DMs to spend more time with customers, talent, and growth activities.\nPurpose of the Role\nThe DOM exists to:\nIncrease operational capacity across the region\nImprove and standardize operational performance\nEnsure strong inventory control and audit readiness\nDrive adherence to SOPs, D365 processes, and operational best practices\nSupport execution of national and regional initiatives\nFree the RD and DMs from tactical operational work so they can focus on strategy, customer relationships, and talent development\nThis role is designed to be a force multiplier - not a firefighter.\nKey Responsibilities\nCore Operational Ownership (Primary Responsibilities)\nThe DOM fully owns and leads:\nInventory integrity, investigations, and follow-through\nSOP compliance across warehouse, receiving, and branch operations\nCycle counts, returns processes, receiving discipline, and operational accuracy\nBranch audit preparation, execution, scoring, and corrective action plans\nD365 process compliance and troubleshooting of operational workflows\nWarehouse flow, safety standards, and operational efficiency\nReadiness and field execution for corporate and regional initiatives\nRegional operational scorecard management and reporting\nPartnership Responsibilities (Supports, but does not own)\nCollaboration with DMs on operational components of sales enablement\nBranch Manager coaching around operational excellence\nSupporting training programs in coordination with the RD and corporate ops\nHelping DMs identify opportunities to improve branch efficiency and consistency\nResponsibilities the DOM Does Not Own\nTo maintain clarity of scope and avoid dilution of mission, the DOM does not own:\nSales performance or sales strategy\nPersonnel decisions or hiring/firing\nCustomer escalations unrelated to operational execution\nHR matters or employee relations\nFinal decision-making authority on branch leadership issues\nThis clarity ensures the ROM strengthens the region rather than becoming a catch-all resource.\nOperating Rhythm\nWeekly\nPlanned branch visits with clear objectives\nFollow-up on outstanding operational and system items\nReview inventory, returns, cycle count, and receiving scorecards\nAlignment check with DMs to synchronize priorities\nMonthly\nFull operational audit or mini-audit cadence\nSOP refreshers and targeted up-training\nReadiness checks for all upcoming initiatives\n1:1 development session with the RD\nQuarterly\nRegional “Operational Health” scoring for each branch\nAlignment and reset session with RD and DMs\nExecution review against national initiatives\nA disciplined rhythm ensures regional operational excellence and prevents fire-drill work\npatterns.\nProfile of an Ideal Candidate\nKey Traits\nHighly disciplined operator with a deep respect for process\nCredible, respected, and trusted in the field\nCalm under pressure with strong situational judgment\nStrong pattern recognition - able to see root causes, not just symptoms\nCoachable and able to coach others\nNaturally structured and organized\nComfortable holding others accountable\nTeaching and instruction excellence\nExperience\nStrong branch operations background (warehouse, receiving, inventory, audits)\nDemonstrated history of SOP compliance and operational consistency\nPrior leadership experience in operations-heavy environments preferred\nExperience with D365 or comparable ERP systems is an advantage\nMincron and D365 experience\nThis is a specialist role - not a “mini-RD.”\nReporting & Integration\nReports directly to the Regional Director\nWorks in close partnership with District Managers and Branch Managers\nMust be publicly supported and positioned clearly in the chain: RVP → RD → DM → DOM\nDOM does not direct or override District Managers; they operate\nthrough the RD.\nEmpowered to enforce operational standards consistently across the region\nIntegration expectations:\nDOM is not sent into branches without context\nDOM is not used as a hammer\nMessaging is aligned with RD before visits\nDMs understand the DOM increases their capacity - not their oversight\nSuccess Measures\nSuccess in the ROM role is reflected through:\nImproved inventory accuracy and audit scores\nIncreased SOP and D365 compliance across branches\nMore consistent operational performance across the region\nStronger execution of initiatives with fewer delays and re-work\nReduced operational issues requiring RD or DM involvement\nHigher overall “Operational Health” scores\nThe DOM enables the region to run with discipline, consistency, and operational excellence.\nCore & Main is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
