Learn more at www.coreweave.com.\nWhat You’ll Do\nTo accelerate datacenter deployment and management, CoreWeave is expanding its firmware engineering team to focus on developing and maintaining BMC firmware for our next-generation Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs).\nAs a Senior Firmware Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware features that enable secure, scalable, and reliable control across CoreWeave’s GenAI compute infrastructure. You’ll work independently on complex components, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help set best practices for firmware quality and performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign & Implement: Develop and enhance OpenBMC firmware in C/C++ for CoreWeave’s custom server platforms, contributing to key subsystems such as sensor management, power and thermal control, networking, and system monitoring.\nIntegrate & Debug: Collaborate with hardware design, platform software, and reliability teams to integrate firmware with new hardware and validate performance across diverse environments.\nOptimize: BMC Performance and Harden Security\nRoot Cause Analysis: Perform deep system-level debugging using tools such as GDB, JTAG, or logic analyzers to resolve cross-layer issues between hardware, firmware, and OS.\nAutomate & Validate: Contribute to continuous integration and automated testing frameworks for OpenBMC build and validation.\nDocument & Share: Maintain clear technical documentation and participate in design reviews to ensure consistency and maintainability across the firmware codebase.\nCollaborate Broadly: Partner with other ICs and technical leads across CoreWeave’s infrastructure engineering, hardware design, and operations teams to align firmware capabilities with platform and datacenter goals.\nWho You Are\nMinimum Qualifications\nExperience: 6+ of professional experience in firmware or embedded systems development, including direct work with Linux-based OpenBMC firmware.\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\nProficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.\nFamiliarity with hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, IPMI, DMTF Redfish)\nExperience with hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and sensor integration.\nExperience with Linux driver development\nComfort with debugging tools such as GDB JTAG and debugging over serial or remote consoles.\nBasic scripting skills in Python or Bash for build automation and validation.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical thinking; able to break down complex system-level issues.\nCommunicates effectively with peers across hardware, firmware, and operations teams.\nWorking knowledge of source code control system such as Git\nSelf-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable code.\nThrives in a fast-paced environment and balances multiple priorities effectively.\nPreferred Qualification\nExperience developing CI/CD pipeline for firmware builds and regression testing\nExposure to large-scale datacenter or HPC environments\nContributions to open-source firmware projects or upstream Linux development\nHands-on experience with OpenBMC, Yocto Project, and embedded Linux environments.\nThe base salary range for this role is $153,000 to $242,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation.
