Location: Hybrid, London Office

About Corndel:

Corndel is a unique, multi award-winning UK management and technology training provider that focuses on delivering the highest quality programmes throughout an employee’s career. We partner with some of the UK’s largest and most exciting businesses to help drive organisational and personal performance through transformational learning.

Our mission is to inspire people to think bigger and shape the future, and our vision is to expand minds and create a world of unlimited potential. We are one of the fastest growing companies in the UK and provide a great platform for proactive and motivated individuals to take the next exciting step in their career. You will be joining an organisation with a fun, entrepreneurial and supportive environment, providing fulfilling work and an open, informal culture.

Our Values:

We look for people who share our values, and who recognise them in the way we work every day:

  • Excellence - embodied in the people we attract, the products we create and the outcomes we achieve. It shines through in our expertise and professionalism, and drives what we do and how we do it.

  • Empowerment - we encourage autonomy, the freedom to collaborate and challenge at all levels, to grow, and to solve the problems that matter.

  • Integrity - doing the right thing.

  • Innovation - disrupting the status quo through original thought to transform the way things are done.

  • Impact - inspiring lasting personal and professional development that makes a transformative difference to organisations, industries and the economy.

  • Inclusivity - we value diversity and the positive impact this brings. We are free and enabled to be our diverse and authentic selves.

The role:

Data is at the heart of Corndel, making sure our people have the information they need to do their best work and deliver exceptional learning experiences. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in how that data moves between our systems and into our reporting. Your main focus will be data engineering: designing, building and running the integrations and pipelines that connect our key business systems, using Boomi and Azure services, including point-to-point integrations.

Alongside this, you will provide technical oversight of SQL development within the team, offering guidance and stepping in when needed.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our data management and governance strategy and work alongside colleagues across the business to build a data platform that meets the needs of the business today and scales for the future. We are also exploring how our data platform develops in the future, and your data architecture experience, including modern approaches such as medallion architecture and Microsoft Fabric, will help inform that thinking.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform and load data from source systems into our reporting environment.

  • Design, build and maintain data integrations using Boomi and other integration approaches, including point-to-point integrations between key business systems.

  • Develop and support integrations and pipelines using Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps and Azure Functions.

  • Work with APIs, webhooks and file-based transfers to move data reliably between internal and third-party systems.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve integration and pipeline failures, putting in place alerting and error handling.

  • Gather integration requirements from stakeholders and translate them into robust, well-documented technical designs.

  • Drive data architecture and design decisions, including data modelling, layering and historisation.

  • Help evaluate and shape the future direction of our data platform, bringing knowledge of modern architectures and tools such as Microsoft Fabric.

  • Identify data quality issues arising through integrations and pipelines and work with key stakeholders internally and externally to resolve them.

  • Apply good engineering practice, including source control, testing and documentation.

  • Provide technical oversight of SQL development within the team, stepping in when needed.

  • Work closely with the Director of Data Services and other stakeholders to implement the company's data management and governance strategy.

About You:

  • Make good choices - You take a structured, evidence-based approach to technical decisions, weighing reliability, security and long-term maintainability rather than reaching for the quickest fix.

  • Make it happen - You take ownership of the integrations and pipelines you build, from design through to live support, and see problems through to resolution.

  • Take people with you - You explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues, and support others in the team through guidance, code review and knowledge sharing.

Experience and Skills:

Essential:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience designing, building and supporting data pipelines and integrations, including point-to-point integrations between business systems.

  • Experience with Azure integration and data services, such as Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps and Azure Functions.

  • Experience working with REST APIs and structured and semi-structured data formats such as JSON and XML.

  • Experience of data architecture, including medallion (bronze, silver, gold) architecture, with a sound understanding of data modelling and data warehousing concepts.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD for data and integration solutions.

  • Good SQL skills, with the experience to review and guide others' work.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Enthusiasm for learning and staying updated on emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.

Desirable:

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code or OpenAI Codex, to accelerate building, testing and documenting data pipelines and integrations, with an understanding of how to review and validate AI-generated output.

  • Experience with Boomi Data Hub or master data management.

  • Experience integrating education or CRM systems such as an LMS, HubSpot or similar platforms.

  • Knowledge of Power BI, including semantic models.

  • Python or PySpark for data transformation.

  • Microsoft Fabric or Boomi certification.
